Numbers of marines

Post by misterpurple »

Just wondering, does anyone know the numbers of each Commando/unit (i.e. Fleet Protection Group, 1 Assault Group RM etc.)? And also, is there an RM detachment on most ships in the Royal Navy, and if so what are the chances of getting posted there?

And yes, I did use the search button

Thanks!

i dont think they have space for Marines on all the ships, the HMS Ocean carrys Marines.

i went on the HMS Portland the other day and that seems too small to capcitate Royals

HMS Ocean, Albion and Bulwark carry large embarked military forces, for assaults on beaches etc. The detachments on ordinary warships are small and make up boarding parties etc. don't know if they 'usualy' carry them or just in areas they're likely to be used such as the Gulf at the moment.

From what I've gathered (as I've looked at it as a possible way to go) you have to serve qith FPGRM for a set period and then be chosen to join FSRT, but it was difficult to find so I could be wrong there.

And what happened to Artists answer? I remember reading it

Draft to FPG, some time behind wire. Then do well and be selected for S squadron FSRT, boarding parties stuff.
