Dont any of the guys on this forum want a real challenge, or do you use the marines as a quick and easy way to get somewhere else?
Do people really fail the 30 miler? Surely not when you get 8 whole hours to do it in? Most civvys do the yorkshire 3 peaks in under 6 hours, and thats over tougher terrain. Also, is the 9 miler just a warm up for something hard, or is it actually a test?....surely not, as its done with empty webbing (well it might as well be, weighing 22lbs).

This is ridiculous mate, the RM course is notoriously a peach,if you think its easy try it yourself.
Tests may not always sound much on paper but try doing them when under stress and already worn out from months of training and doing it while carrying injuries.
I have not done it but have nothing but respect for those who have.
KP.
