An Israeli Inventor has developed a breathing apparatus that will allow breathing underwater without the assistance of compressed air tanks. This new invention will use the relatively small amounts of air that already exist in water to supply oxygen to both scuba divers and submarines. The invention has already captured the interest of most major diving manufacturers as well as the Israeli Navy.

A very interesting article on a revolutionary way of underwater breathing. I always imagined that this technology would eventually be made based on how fish etc absorb oxygen from the sea.
It's still a good few years off. But when this becomes commercial (if all goes to plan and it's successful of course) imagine the difference. No more extensively testing and checking tanks, no more lugging multiple tanks on and off boats. Huge time saver when it comes to putting on and taking off the equipment. Less restriction on movement under the water. Plus the potential of staying under the water for a lot longer than today's equipment allows for. So many pluses over today's current methods.
I can't wait. I'm sure our armed forces diving team are creaming over this.
