Wasn't it the Marines you wanted to join?

Do yourself a favour, sit down, relax, and have a good long think about what you want to do with your life.

You've got to remember that when joining the forces you are commited to at least three years service. You can't jump from one branch to another every two months.

As I said in another post, perhaps joining as a part-timer would give you a better idea of what it's all about.

From reading the reply's I think maybe 13 months waiting will do you some good... especially if you cant stick with one job choice.

Leave him alone all the options available are sure to be overwhelming given the choice, most people change their mind at some point.

As long as he's not filled in the paperwork theres no harm in him changing his mind.

the waiting list might have decreased after one very angry commisioned officer found out about the "waiting list" when he is 50% short of hands so check with your careers office also talking to people the warfare branch seem to do most of the painting and chipping on ships. Thnak you spiderbloke for your comment it is overwhelming when you start hunting around you relise there are a lot of jobs and i would rather take my time and pick the right one than rush on ahead and make a big mastake and 4 years is a long time

I have applied as an Engineering Technician (Marine Engineering) as they are now called and have been told I will have around a 9 month wait if all goes well. That is at the shortest it has been for a long time, or at least that is what the AFCO have advised me. Either way, it should come round quickly enough and gives me more time to prepare.
