Tired of Civi life

Post by johnnyValencia »

I've not had a military life yet, im only 19, but i'm bloody bored of civiy life, all my mates are boring and into the same old sh#t, i've stop hanging around
with pretty much all my mates as too avoid getting wasted and too keep focus on my routines. i cant wait to get on RT and meet lads that are on the same mind set as me and have some real fun, anyone else feels or has felt this way?

im just bored i thought id start a topic 8)

I feel quite similar.

I have a few close mates who I will always be friends with and hold a special bond with. But when I occasionaly go out I find myself feeling disgusted with myself for being around certain people. My town is quite small and most people know each other. They go out get pissed then get on my space congratulate each other for getting pissed then do it all again the next weekend.

I long to be back at CTCRM, < paradox I know, because when I do get back I know sometimes I will be threaders with it.

I think its important to give yourself monthly goals, get out and run but also stay quite chilled out because you can't make the time go any faster. I also have realised its not about being better than any body else its about being the best for me.

If you join the RM to be better than others or so that people will look at you and think your great I think you will find it harder to get through training. You have to want to do it for you and no one else.

Hello m8,
Well yes definatly! I'm 24 now, been working for 7 years in the same industry, doing ok but just plodding along! Lost touch with most of my old m8's when they went off to uni etc now just hang around with the same bunch of work m8's who just wanna get pissed and get away from work asap every day!
Has really got me down in the last year so that's why I'm joining up! I mean it's something I've always wanted to do but never had the courage to so seems like the perfect chance to do something positive! Can't wait to get around like minded people who wanna do more than sit on their arses all day! :D

yeh i can relate to what you guys are saying. ive found ive become very distant from my mates since ive started training seriously for the one thing i want more than anything... that green lid! but saying that, ive chosen this path and am having to make sacrifices, such as going out every weekend with the lads, which they find extremely hard to get their heads around which in turn does anger and upset me at times but i use this to my advantage by taking it all out in my training
i hope i havent come across as some sort of hermit crab like boo radley haha.

since I started training seriously for this at begining of Dec I think I've gone out once (except going on my hols to see my sis) and in that time only 2 m8's are in touch regularly to see how I'm getting on and give me encouragement to keep training and tell me that I WILL get there!

Amazing how many people disapear when you need a bit of support eh?

JV how far into your process are you?
Before you insult someone, first walk a mile in their shoes, that way when you insult them, you are a mile away and you have their shoes.

Yeah feel the same but still have good close mates even tho i dont see them much as iv moved home as to focus on training. I think if you get to RT and have a natural affinity to militray life as some people do then good. But since your 19 its still good to get out on your own and meet new people, friends etc Id say more but im so hungover I cant quite function!!!

Yeah Im the same now.. everyone of my mates a bone lazy and have no dedication in life.. The only people I really seem to talk to now are former or currently serving servicemen and mates I have met through here! The people at my work at that bore me cause all they wana do is the same day in day out boring job and the same old stuff.

Cant wait to get into the Marines and get some mates who have the same dedication and passion that I do.

It certainly seems this is a common theme, I too got sick of the group I was in. All it did was 'lets go get pissed!!' then the day after 'lets talk about how pissed we were!!' and shite like that. I felt I wanted to be something and do something with my life other than getting drunk at every occasion.

Its also kind of wierd how most people on this subject say they still have 2 mates who they see regulary, I too have that. Must be a potential marine thing to only have 2 friends :P

Its exactly the same for me, most of my mates who live in my town just seem to go out and get drunk and stoned every evening and hang round on the streets, i can't say i never got drunk in the park, but i don't anymore and i think ive out grown it. They dont have any direction in life, and then will try and take the piss when you say you want to join the armed forces (or whatever).
Thankfully a good few of the people who i go to college with are different, they seem to have the same view on this as me (and you guys as well).
