Video of Matt Baker taking part in the PRMC

Post by tkdvipers »

I have managed to dig out a video of Matt Baker from Blue Peter taking part in the prmc.

The you tube version is much better quality than the google video one.

Most on these boards will know, this but to anybody new, the PRMC has changed slightly since this video was produced. The full details can be found on the Royal Marines website, and there are many on these boards that have completed the PRMC recently, who can give you up to date information.

Matt also takes part in a bottom field PT session with a troop in the later part of training and also runs the endurance course. The recruit training has also changed since the video and is now 32 weeks in length. All this information can be found here.

I take my hat off to Matt as I don’t think he was given that much notice before getting stuck in on this course. I hope that some find this useful, as visually it will give you a better idea of what the prmc and training is all about. You cannot however, gauge exactly what CTCRM and training like until you have experienced it for yourself.

Yeah the memories.

I did mine in 2003 and didn't really realise exactly what I was facing. I passed but the military way was certainly a shock to the system. I didn't find the phys crazy but it was the constant shouting and being aware of what is going on which kicked me up the arse.

Did you put it on youtube yet? I'm going back to college now so maybe it will be on there by the time I finished.

Will be interesting to watch it.

I am going to have to split in into 3 10 min files for you tube as that is the maximum length which you are allowed to upload. I will do this but I will have to do it at work. So maybe this evening.

Aplogies if you can't view it.

Good video. He passed PRMC according to that, yet he got 9 on the bleep test. Probably for the cameras eh.

I think alot was for the cameras. But I don't think he had that long to prepare and sort of went into it not really knowing what was going to happen.

I think they let him pass though becuase he was giving it his all and showed that if he had had time to prepare he would have probably been top of his course. (He was a national level gymnast before a blue peter bod)

When he does the obstacle course he isn't pleased with himself you can tell he wanted to get a better time when he says "not good enough" but he gets in with a time that is regaurded as a pass.

"all I wanted to do was get in that tunnel"

I watched this loads before I did my prmc, and I can remember thinking the exact same thing as I went through that tunnel, gives you time to collect your thoughts then blast it for the final piece of the course.
