Parcel to Afghanistan

Post by yet_mae »

My best mate is out in ganners at the moment and was just wondering if anyone has any decent ideas of what to send him, he did mention some porn mags but I was thinking of something bit more useful.

At the moment he isn't at camp Bastion he is out on "missions" with the rest of his 45 crew. Havn't heard off him for a few weeks but he did say he will be stuck out in the desert so that means no email and no phone calls.

I know Artist will probably have a few ideas knowing what things you would want to find in a parcel the most when so far from home.

Any ideas appreciated, I was thinking more along the lines of food though.

Cheers Lads.

I think I'd want porn mags personally, I can't imagine the lads getting much action out there.

I send DVDs.

A couple of the lads out there have laptops, or access to one. So i send a variety of things. Peter north goes down very well, especially as he does the best women in the business ;)
Along with movies and some PPV events like K-1 and UFC.

Dvds is a good idea, last time i just sent him porn to his email address, he said when he opened it all the other lads ran over to his computer loving the pics.

What about any food items anyone can think of that won't be too expensive to send in the mail.

The only thing i would send food wise would be something like protein bars.

I doubt he'll hardly be chuffed if he opened a parcel and it was full of protein bars.

What kind of food are the lads on out there - compo? Or are they being fed by the Afghans when out on missions?

Watching that documentry on 4 the other week, the guys said the big food parcel with crisps and sweets etc was like heaven for them - maybe sending a parcel full of goodies like that would be a good idea after all?

LOL @ lodgi

I remember too about that programme when they opened up their bag of goodies.

Me and all my mates are going to chip in a bit of money each and send a decent parcel worth sending. Maybe not too many protein bars though. haha. When he came back for 2 weeks r&r he jsut got some dried fruit and nuts to take with him from asda.

I'll think of somethin hopefully.

Baby wipes! Now thats an idea, I bet they get dusty out there, must be horrible if it's hot and dusty and you cant get a proper shower.

Check with the relevant authority before you send any food as there are laws regarding what can be imported/exported. Generally speaking, sweets and such should be fine.

If you've got email contact with him then why not ask if there's anything he needs or wants?
Aways look on the bright side of life.
