Push Up Bars

Post by E5_Man »

Just wondering what other people thought of these? I've had a pair for donkeys years but never really used them as i find them sh!te. Is there any benefits to using them?

Before you insult someone, first walk a mile in their shoes, that way when you insult them, you are a mile away and you have their shoes.

Ive got a pair but i dont use them much at all, i think they are usefull if you want to get more stretch on the push up but thats it. Also, if your having joint problems in your wrists they ease it?

push up bar

Post by chrisaryee »

same here. I bought a package of chin up, sit up and push up bars from argos for 20 quid. The chin up bar goes between your door frame and sit up bar goes underneath the door. Very good stuff but the push up bar is absolutely useless. I use my palms and sometimes do closed fist push ups.

TAKE THEM ON OPs!!!! :P

Seriously, they are the best thing to take with you on Operations. Most of the time you dont have a nice floor to push away on so these are invaluble and so small they take up hardly any room in your kit. :D

On a fitness note, the pushup bars are good because you can get a better range of movement so your chest muscles tear more. Guarenteed if you get good at doing pushups with the bars and your chest touching the floor every time, you will be even better at normal pushups on the ground. Just a thought 8)

I got a bar similar to what chris has described above.

Powerbar its called, and its quite good. Hooks onto top of the door frame and comes out/up a bit so its easier to do full arm pull ups without your legs touching the ground.

Can put it on the ground and use it as a press up bar and im sure you could invent some way of using it with sit ups...

The only problem is the blisters you get on your hands when they're not used to it. I went a bit gung-ho on the first few days but overall its quite good.
