The First Steps...

Post by AndyG321 »

Hi, just thought I'd introduce myself, Andy, 24 from Croydon.
Just going through the fist few steps of joining at the mo and wondered if anyone else was in the same boat?
I have my Psychometric test on the 23rd Jan at Guildford and seeing as I've been away from school for a long time I'm a bit worried about it? I've been reading through everything I was given but is it worth brushing up on math's and the like?
How hard is it to get as far as PRMC? Worth quiting my job yet? ;)

Anyway hope to hear from anyone else who's applying and if anyone else is at the same level be good to hear from u.

Welcome to the forums :D

Don't think you should quit your job yet, take the test and see where you stand after that (yes do brush up on everything, even the things you may consider your stronger points), low score on the test means you have to score higher on the bleep test on your PRMC. Im hoping that you're already into your fitness, keep yourself fit and above all remain determined, many have said it before so i cant stress it enough.

Other than that, enjoy the forums ok. If you need anymore help then use the search, failing that - post and someone will help you as best they can.

All the best. 8)

yeah think I best get myself up the library too Gar ;) Best of luck on the 10th!
And yeah fitness is good I'm running the marathon this year so well into training for that and always done weights in the gym.
I've just started running through the fitness schedule though which pretty tough every exercise is different to how I used to do them!!!
Anyone know how soon PRMC could be? Someone told me it could be in like 2 months???!

PRMC, you could get a date within 6 weeks probably if you pushed or you could probably wait up to a year it depends when you feel ready and confident to pass it, if you get given a date thats to quick for you tell them and they will sort you out a later date, just wait till your ready, theres no point going down there and not feeling confident.

You dont really need to be able to do press-ups solidly for 2mins just as long as you can get at least 30 out, I am sure you will be fine! You will have plenty of time to practice when you start RT!lol

Alright Andy mate, welcome to MFAT.

I am from catford, not to far from you, i dwell in your parts quite abit, you got a handy surplus shop in your town :P .

You should not really quit your job until you get an RT date, I quited my job as soon as i got my PRMC date, although i had money set aside to last quite a bit beyond my RT date 5th Feb.

Andy this site has been of so so so much help to me, and i can confidently say that if you listen and take all the advice onboard you see on here and use that handy "search" button, you should be joining us MFAT passers in no time.

Good luck with your selection process mate, any question you have will surely be answered on here as there are many great guys some in all different stages in RT, and there are a few bootnecks on here i beileve.
Good luck again mate, and a warm welcome from me and my MFAT buddies (I hope i can call all you guys that after helpin me so much
 )

Kyle.

Cheers Kyle, I used to go out with a girl in Catford I know it well! ;)

Yeah it's probably not a good idea to quit yet...although I do have some saving's set aside too! Problem is the job I do means working long hours and find it though to train and then find time to recover! I'll have to see how it all goes!

Thanks for the warm welcome though I've been reading through here over the last week and definatly found out a lot more than I have off the RM website it's good to have somewhere to ask all those stupid questions you don't wanna ask in the careers office ;)

How long was it from passing your PRMC to your start date out of interest?

Hi Andy.

It is worth brushing up on your maths before the test. Remember the 5 P's.
