hi mark,

numeracy isnt my strong point either, in fact, im abysmal at it.
prior to my test back in april/may time i looked up basic maths questions on tinternet and found a number of decent sites (bbc bitesize was one of them i think) where you could go through adding, subtracting, algebra etc. and i found this really helped on the day! but saying that, didnt your AFCO give you a booklet with a few example questions in?
hope this helps,

Remember what they say about certain questions, if it is taking you too long to work it out - move on to the next one until you can find a question you can do easily. You can go back to the others in your spare time. Even though i was told this about 10 times i still didnt listen and ended up seeing the easy questions right at the end of the 1st test (easily an extra 10 marks , waisted on questions i probably got wrong anyway )

if you dont pass the tests, then you have to score a certain mark on the bleep test, thats what i was told, so dont worry about it.

Just do the best you possible can and you cant fault yourself.

Goodluck, i was crap at it too but managed to pass, did a few nights revision and passed it.

You will be fine mate dont worry too much.

I sat mine this week mate.

Best possible advice i can give you, just learn the basics of maths again if you're not really strong (BBC GCSE Bitesize can help!!!), if you're not good with english, then just generally read books mate, looking at things such as sentence structure so when the questions are asked in the test you can easily put words together and work out which is crap and which isn't.

Theres a little physics in it, but i wouldnt worry too much about that, mainly common sence if you just think about them logically.

MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF ADVICE: Practise makes perfect! Set up a mock psychometric at home, and set a time limit (dont remember what the times were, maybe someone else can add), something like 9mins. So you get used to working under pressure again. I made a very stupid mistake of forgetting about that and found myself pressed for time, it goes VERY QUICKLY and if you're not careful it might catch you out! I used to be very good at working within time limits when it comes to pen and paper, very good - when i was at school and college. 2 years after college - not so good, simply because im not used to that sort of routine anymore.

Overall, if you learn your stuff, you cant go wrong, stick to the practice booklet, fill it in, act on what you've been told on here and give your best, you'll be fine, i promise. :D
