Running P.Bs
Ive noticed a lot of people posting best times for runs, like six mile and three mile times. A lot of them look pretty damn good, and im happy that im getting seven minute miles for most of my runs, just one thing, do most people get their times from treadmills or from road running? I personally find it a lot easier to get good treadmill times and i take my times from road/cross country runs, i am curious to see what others say, cheers

yeah i see what you mean with the football pitches, or parks or similar, to give yourself a benchmark time, going for 7 min miles over hilly cross country is hard, but i generally find hilly routes are best because they force you to change pace and make you sprint sections to catch up time lost on uphills in order to get an average overall pace- that happened yesterday anyway, thought i was goig well through a six miler till the fourth mile when i realised i had 13 minutes to finish, ended up sprinting near the end to get sub 42 mins, did it in 41:58

Well done mate. Alot of personal bests on this site are really depend on the conditions of the run so unless everyone on this forum ran the same distance at the same time we don't know if the time is good/ could be improved.
euro_andrew, where i run there are two rugby pitches side-by-side and 7 laps of that comes to about 5 km (just over 3 miles) - my best time on that is 18:21, no hills, just straight running.
