There has been a lot of stuff posted about this, try a search. The main difference is probably that from the start as an officer, you will be looked upon as someone who takes the lead and naturally assumes responsibilty. Officers MUST possess an ability to take the lead ( as well as working in a team), marines do not NECCESSARILY have to place themselves in charge although it is not discouraged; marines are thinking soldiers and any man in a section will be expected to be able to assume command if the poo hits the proverbial- dont assume that as a marine you are saved from having to engage your brain and think on your feet, it is NOT the easy option

Well from what i've learnt, Officers will have more work for them, for the obvious reasons that they have to have more man-managing skills. While a troop of commando's will sleep, an officer will be awake, planning ahead and doing his best to make sure everything goes to plan. They have to be able to show that they can do what their men can do - and more!
Officers also have a higher salery, alot higher than regular marines to start off with as well.
But, dont let that put you off from being 'one of the lads' as so many have put it
In my view, it is just as good as being a recruit from what i've learnt. There is no way i can speak from experience because im not a bootneck yet, this is what ive been told and gathered for myself. Most of what i was going to put about being a regular marine has already been stated, so just keep that in mind.
But as i have gathered, whatever you decide to join up as - Royal Marine Officer or just a Royal Marine - you will have done something that most people cannot! Just keep that in mind

Officer or Marine? Take the commison!
Your training is far harder then the Marine training but once out of CTCRM in your first unit you will have command of 30 odd blokes. Nine times out of ten your troop Sgt will be your greatest asset. The Cpls will be 100% swtiched on kiddies and the Blokes will be top notch Soldiers.
Take in what the Sgt's who take you though training teach you and you will have a ball as a Pig (Officer). Try to be aloof and you can stand by for one shitty time both from the men below you, the men above you and the men on the same par as you.
Most officers I had the pleasure of serving with were down to Earth bog standard true blue Soldiers who could quickly earn the respect of any body they met. This old Chessnut of "them and us" should be confined to the gashbin of the past in other words.

32 weeks training, 52 weeks training, as an officer im pretty damn sure you will be one of the lads i wouldnt judge that!
They are super fit and havea cool head, a natural leader, and the best of the best!!! Im a going in as a private but have always looked up to Royal Marine Commando Officers as they are rare and just naturals, even when i was a pongo royal green jacket i still thought rmc officers were and are the dogs bo**ocks.
