No need to buy your own boots, if you pass PRMC you get given a nice pair of good quality boots.

Yeah you get a fresh pair when you pass. I just got mine, there being a B*tch to break in, trying to look around MFAT n that to find out different ways, no luck yet.

alright KJ

well done on passing PRMC by the way.
i havent really had too much trouble breaking in my boots. i just wear them whenever i walk the dog (which is every day) but one thing i read on here which i have tried was soaking them in hot water and then wearing them for a while, i was suprised how much it softened the leather.
i left them in hot water for half an hour (with stones in to make them stay under the water) then wore them for about an hour. they crease up well easy then.

Thanks mate. I will give that a go. will the boots be ok sitting in hot water for half hour, like would i just have to put a bit of polish and let it soak in after they have dried?

I read something on here which i have yet to try, it involves wearing them in hot water for 15minutes, yhen go walking in them till they dry as they are ment to mold to your feet.

yeh thats what id read, the only reason i ended up doin it was becuase id filled the sink with hot water to clean them, and my mate came round so i ended up leaving them in there for about half an hour! then i just wore them afterwards.
like you say, just a bit of polish afterwards and they look brand new again, theyll be getting wet all the time in RT!
noticed you goin for a RT date of early feb maybe, im on 5th feb and theres some real sound guys from my PRMC also on this date, so i might be seeing you soon!

So basically i should just go walking them and work them in that way.
How about putting wet newspaper inside? would that do anything, because the only problem i have is at the heel all the rest is perfect.

Yeah im trying to get my RT date to Jan though, but my WO is on holiday and i gota speak to whoever is in charge of hes role whilst hes away and get my exact date, i will prob get FEb if i have to wait for him to get bk from holiday.

i found getting the boots wet is the best way to soften them, to be honest the boots you wear through rt will be knackered by your passout because they arent particulary good, good enough, but not great. you can buy your own after rt but not during, do make sure they are as well broken in before you start as poss, i went at the heels of mine with a hammer when wet to widen and soften that area which otherwise gives me achilles pain!

I just get rubbing at the back of my heel when i walk, when i stand still i can not feel anything, my toes love them :D

So whats the best way to prevent the heel rubbing, how to stretch/widen it.
I have been using the search button on here, i can not find anything to sort my problem. (maybe i am not looking hard enough)

I've seen some people try to move the shape around with your hands slightly by bashing and pushing, then wearing the boots to let the shape take. I've never found any drastic measures neccesary in any boots I've ever worn. Just keep wearing them, everywhere you can, where them when sat watching the telly walking round the house etc. Try while sat wearing them flexing your feet about when it rubs try and stretch the leasther in that area by flexing back forwards etc. They will break in just give them time.

I went for a long walk in my boots and wore them whilst watching a film, moving them around constantly where it was tight. They feel so comfy now, better than my trainers to be frank hahaha.
