Would the average Rockport boot be ok for the para insight course??
On a topic totally unrelated to joining. We found out today that British troops could be pulled back from pratolling the streets of Basra in a couple of months or so, but we hear all the time that the situation in Iraq is increasingly getting worse. Is this a government ploy to ease the British publics anxiety of what is realy going on.

Dang!. I'v been out to buy a pair of boots especially for the insight course. Oh well i'll still take them with me so at least i know i'll have some in my size.
My bag is packed full, it looks as though im going for 2 weeks not 2 days. What stuff did you take with you Paraintraining, i need to get rid of some stuff but im not too sure what to take out.

I went on the five day, so had a fair few things. But it really is just the basics you need:
sports stuff- trackies, shorts, t-shirts and warm top or two.
undies for a few days, swimwear if it says you'll be doing the swim test.
set of casual clothes
wash kit and towels
money if you need it.
(they may have asked you to take a pad and pen)

Broadly speaking, I think thats the idea. Not in some nazi way, but I think the idea is to be helpful. If you're right in saying that new lads in battalion get panned when they join, then really does it matter if they go to insight or not? They'll get "welcomed" regardless, so maybe the sarcastic remarks are a waste of time? All you're succeeding in doing is pissing everyone on this forum off, so why bother? If someone gets a good ribbing for going on insight when they join your battalion, then you'll have the last laugh eh?chute wrote:Why lock all my posts?
