Just watching a program on BBC1 about soldiers being hurt and what support the MOD give them. Theres just been a lad on who got his tank blown up, his two mates got killed and he was really badly hurt. He was badly burned all over and had shrapnel wounds after the ammo and fuel blew up in the tank. He says the MOD won't pay for the skin treatment he is having because he has now left the army. This is a bit shocking aint it? Also, it was friendly fire that caused it! i'd be mega pjssed off if this was me and they weren't looking after me after 6 years of service. What do you guys think?

Thats got to be annoying aint it, i couldnt imagine it myself and yes, i too would be extremely p****d off, more of these cases should be brought onto the news more often so the MOD get their arse in gear about it.

P****D me off! Bl**dy disgrace. One of the ex service men made a very good point. "Just keep taking your medication your ok, well if i'm on medication obviously i'm not".
Something needs to be done and soon!!

Considering the amount of income the MOD makes, I doubt it will make much of a diffrence to them. Will the NHS help out?

(Waving the stick of Optimism) It does sound bad as a headline, but I know that once you leave the army/navy you basically get transferred to civvie medical care, it is not normal practice for an employer to pay for treatment for staff that are no longer employed by the company. It does not surprise me any more that they won't pay for skin treatment as well, this is after all cosmetic treatment which most people have to pay for anyway in civvie street.

I am not saying the guy is completly wrong but if you write it all down on paper and refer to the rules and regs you can see why this has happened. The fault lies with both sides I believe.

You have a point - but thats not the point. These people are laying down their lives for this country, the least the MOD could do is make sure they're looked after.

Unfortunately the same analagy can be drawn with elderly people. As soon as you hit retirement, if you dont have money - no one gives a flying moose what happens to you.
