motivational phrases/speeches

Post by degrees of passion »

im interested in all the speeches/phrases/proverbs or whatever that gets everyone else through their training...im thinking along the lines of what many people have in their signatures:

Pain Is Temporary, Pride is Forever"
"Winning is not about being the fastest or the strongest, but the refusal to fail

The fear or giving up and failing is far more painful than the discomfort of temporary physical exertion.

etc etc etc

so can all users use this thread to post their inspirational thoughts etc here, ones that come to my mind instantly are churchills speeches and a few from patton, henry v at agincourt...

And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

Today you must do more than is required of you. Never think that you have done enough or that your job is finished. There is always something that can be done – something that can help to ensure victory. You cannot let others be responsible for getting you started. You must be a self starter. You must possess that spark of individual initiative that sets the leader apart from the led. Self motivation is the key to being one step ahead of everyone else. Always be on the lookout for the chance to do something better. Never stop trying. Fill yourself with the warrior spirit – and send that warrior into action.

General George Patton 1944

One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half.

Sir Winston Churchill
Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, 'This was their finest hour'

Vince Lombardi has some good ones:

"the harder you train the harder it is for you to surrender."

- That's my favourite.

Decide what you want

Then decide, what you will give up, to get there.... :wink:

"The only thing necessary for the triumpth of evil, is for good men to do nothing" Personal fav of mine when faced against what we are up against today.

"True champions do what? They come back stronger!" Boxing.

"Not Scared" - Gym and rugby talk.

"Its only pain" A believe thats a RM one but i once heard one of the coaches at rugby shout it.

"STRONG!!!" Another one from the gym.

1. Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it's always your choice.
Wayne Dyer

2. You have a very powerful mind that can make anything happen as long as you keep yourself centered.
Wayne Dyer

3. People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they can do things. When they believe in themselves they have the first secret of success.

By the way i'm looking at going into RT sometime either this side or the other side of christmas. After failing aib and deciding to go in through the ranks, for anyone in a similar situation, my afco doesnt' reckon i have to do prmc after doing poc, but who knows, it seems to be a grey area
