Does high education and civvy certifications help PRMC?

Post by euro_andrew »

Hey there,

Just wondering when you go for PRMC would a really high education and certifications in say computers (if that is the job you are going for) help your final PRMC grade and help you pass?

Nope.

Only thing that makes a difference is your written test score. If you score badly on the mechanical comprehension section you have to get slightly higher on the bleep test.

I think you mean Officer training. Education won't do anything for PRMC unless you are doing officer training, in which case you need high grades to get on the POC. As far as I know there are no computer job specialisations, I have a Computer Science degree and expect to get beasted within an inch of my life whenever the corporals feel like it, degree or no degree.

Ohh definately, i didnt go to uni because i want to join the corps instead - i seriously doubt if i say to them "you know, im part Cisco qualified :) " that i'll get any better position unless the POC works out for me.

Andy, if you've got it though - don't sell yourself short! Always go for the best you can possibly be. 8)

Although, while im on that subject, just because someone has good grades - it entitles them to become an officer? Their leadership skills could be crap! Where as someone with 'F U D G E' for GCSE grades could have far greater leadership skills, just doesn't make sense to me in one respect - on the other hand i can see their arguement.

Just wondering whether anyone else has had that thought?

I know this is Royal Marines and i stand by them

But, the army uses 'Qualities outrank Qualifications' - thats a good way of looking at it i think.

I could be wrong???

Is this real or a joke Brian?, Because I cannot see how performing better in a bleep test can make up for not knowing the optimum angle for trajectory (its 45 degrees AJ!) or knowing that in gearing, a smaller cog does more revolutions than a connected larger one. Seems a strange one.

I was not having a go AJ :) , if I am honest, I did not know the optimum trajectory myself until I read it in the book, it was just something I never thought of, even though I did lots of Maths on my degree.

Best of luck with the PJFT and 6 mile times, by all means destroy my times, if it motivates you then it must be a good thing. When I did my PJFT I noticed that one of my feet pointed outwards when I ran, I had never ran on a treadmill in front of a mirror before, being cack footed is not a plus for me though is it :-(

You have made me worried now, I did not think my written test went that well, I hate exams. I will be really cheesed off if I get to CTC and they stick my name up and a level of 15 appears as a minimum pass :o

'TheWedge' on your PRMC brief (if you're one of the afco's that have it) will tell you what level you need on the bleep test, they told me because of my Mechanical Comprehension score i need at least a 10 to pass...but that doesnt really matter as everyone should be training to achieve level 13... :)
Only through hard work are real men made

PJFT: 10.09

TheWedge, i didnt mean to put it across that way but, please accept my apology to clear up any misunderstanding :P

Its not your score motivating me, just thought id have a crack at beating it - im actually going to use that as a mark to beat, nothing personal against you mate, its nothing like that - just a fairly good mark to try and surpass.

Flo, please do keep it under a close eye, im sure others will too!

Im not being big headed at all, but i do believe that once i get back into training again i will be able to set one of, if not the highest press-ups PB in 2minutes on MFAT. Its just more determination to get me into the corps as i want to be the best i possibly can be.

Should i fail however, i'll accpet all the critisisum everyone can throw at me should they choose to, take the bugger on the chin and get on with it! 8)

Please keep in mind that i wont be back into training until late November - early December time.
