Books that cover military skills

Hi,

Does anybody know any worthwhile books that I could buy which cover military skills like fieldcraft, weapon handling, commando skills ect. Obviously this question could be potentially stupid because I dont think the MOD would let publishers release inside military info, but still there might be some books out there .

Not sure about weapon handling or tactics but you cant go wrong with a Ray Mears book on bushcraft, simple instructions on how not to die.

I havent read these books but im told they are good if your into that sort of thing, Im sure if we manage to get in we will be shown first hand how to handle any situation by men who have been doing it for longer than we have been breathing, and going in thinking you know it all will probably end up with you wearing your ass as a hat fairly sharpish, its good to have a thirst for knowledge but it should be approached with caution, thats my view anyway.

That book is the sh!t. If it's not in there you don't need to know it.

Pick up a US Army Ranger handbook, it's a great guide both for information on fieldcraft and basic leadership tactics for platoon to squad level command.

Also look at the US Infantryman's manual and survival manual.

You'll probably have to purchase these on amazon, but worth it if you want a good idea of what infantry actually do.

I'd like to give a very big THANK YOU to the person who recommended the military pocket books to me. They are absolutely amazing (got mine today), filled with as much information as I probably need in preparation for RM.

There is the link again if anyone else needs it. It has EVERYTHING that a soldier would need and im not joking either, bit like the ultimate guide really. . I also recommend SAS survival book by John 'Lofty' Wiseman. Also a very good book for learning how to survive in any environment.

I have already planned to read both of the soldier pocket books and skill at arms pocket books 5x over while taking notes at the same time . Gonna read SAS survival book 2x over while taking notes (a whole 600 odd pages haha). That should get the info ingrained onto my brain .

I'd seriously consider looking into this, Ray Mears can teach you how to make a luxury house in the middle of a rainforest. The bloke is a genious - the skills like fire lighting in damp enviroments and especially the knot tying are very handy if you can master them.

Definately advise this choice!
