Flat Footed

Post by Greg123 »

I know this probably seems like a stupid question, but im flat footed. Although I presume the Military has probably moved on from the days of rejecting people because of this, I just wondered if anyone on here is flat footed. Either serving or in the recruitment process.
Does it affect you in anyway? Obviously theres a lot of running involved, and flat footedness puts a lot of strain on the knees. I where good running trainers and use inasoles, but how would the boots be?
Like I said it is a bit of a stupid question but would appreciate some feed back
thanks

My mums friends nephew joined the Army and passed all the entry tests. He started training and could cope with all the running and that but when it came to tabs and walking in boots he had loads of problems with his feet. It was then found out that he had flat feet and was only found when he was in basic training. He was then medically discharged from the army because he could do all the tabs and things like that.

Like speed marches i think. He was only 16 and a half when he joined up so it might have affected him more with him being young. Yeh it was only in the last few months.

Greg mate, get your self to an orthopedition, i had 'over pronation' where my foot roles in too much, they took a mold of my feet and then supplied me with 'cutom made' insoles - and there has been no problem since. And the guy that sorted me out says he treats people with flat feet also. And the guy at my AFCO has these insoles in his boots, and he told me its no problemo! but be-ware - they arnt cheap :-?

or if you cant get the orhtopedic insoles (I think thats what theyre called...) try these: www.yoursole.co.uk
I got a pair (i have high arches though) last week and they seem to help, some of the reviews say theyre better than orthopedic insoles. A cheaper option anyway.

At my medical the doc took a look at my feet and said im slightly flat footed. He said it was ok but in training if I start to feel any pains in my knees, feet etc, I should go see someone and get it sorted with 'special' insoles asap 8)
