This is a question for people that are currently or have just recently completed the application process.
Is the application process at the AFCO the same for joining all of the armed forces?
I ask because a relative of mine has just applied to join the army and has been given a medical form to first fill in, then to give to his GP to be filled in and then sent back to the AFCO (which can take some time!) all before having the medical at RSC.
Is this the same process for the Royal Marines?
I applied to join a few years ago but the process was different. Just filled in medical form and sent it off. No need to waste time giving it to my GP as I was to have a medical as part of the process.
Just wondering what the score was now?

alright mate. i have just got through most of the selection process (the ones relevant to your quiery) and can tell you that it is different to the one mentioned. You sit the test, have an interview and then if you are successfull in your interview, you will be sent to a local doctors, close to the AFCO, on the same day and they will then check you over (including your nads!
). They will fill out the relevant forms there and then and then you just return those to the AFCO on the same day.
I can't whether it is exactly the same but sure it will be basically the same. Hope this helps mate

The process is
Application form>>>Recruit test>>>Interview>>>medical>>>PJFT>>>PRMC
The medical is not necessarily on the same day as your interview or PJFT as some have had, mine was a few weeks apart, it just depends on your AFCO and how busy the doctor is!!
The application process takes a few months I started my application in the first week of NOv 05' and i have my PRMC on April 3rd
Hope this clears things up.
