are you tough enuff!!!

Post by prm_hanson »

i have just spent a week training with the royal marines and they are the best bunch of guys ever!! and i will warn you all now this training is not for the faint hearted... me and my freinds from military college did the commando endurance course, and that was the most physically and mentally challenging course ive ever encountered, we had boys crying and boys passing out and one even quit...and thats only the one test. The bottom filed assault course was tiring but great fun. the 30ft death slide on the tarzan assualt course...cool as :D battle swimming test (no probs)

Yah, sounds like fun. Did you run it in boots? What was your time for compleating it? How many started and how many finished?

Potentially stupid question coming up but what are the buckets for at the end of the beds? I have an idea but I guess its even more silly than the question.

Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself.

The buckets are used for puting Honking rig in fella, when you come back to the grots from phys or out of the feild your rig will be honking, through out the day you have various lectures to attend and wont get chance to dobi your rig untill about midnight  obviousley you dont want this stinking rig contaminating the rest of the grot and the bucket will contain any ogin and shite

One thing those buckets are NOT for is hiding your locker key in when you go for phys. I did this for a while, thinking myself very clever for saving a few valuable minutes each time i got back from the gym (all other keys were put in one troop bucket that went to the gym too and it took a while to get yours back).I put mine in my bucket and therefore ran strainght into the grots, into my room knowing where it was. However my world came crashing down the day my bucket contained no key. Fark, stand by i thought. Off i went up to the training teams office (crapping myself) and recieved an ear full and quite rightly i thought after banging out press ups whilst listening to all the dangers of leaving the key in my room.....lesson learnt. As i left breathing out my arse, i was given my key back, apparently a member of the training team had "accidently" knocked my bucket over.

yes APCymru cardiff... that BMF training sounds really good though

i got the chance to do this because of the college im in, an it was an incredible experience basically what you see on the link is what you get for bottom field, it has 30ft ropes, regain ropes, walls, tunnels, monkey bars, nets, bridges.. really cool stuff you have to do 4 test on bottom fiels 1) regain ropes 2) firemans carry with full kit on for 200m to be done in 90 seconds 3) the 30ft ropes 4) the bottom field assault course

the endurance run we didnt really have a time we went round it and had an absolute beasting... when you go down youll know what i mean... sheep dip, crocodile pit, bog hills etc about 18 of us did it and 1 dropped out 1 passed out about 4 people broke down crying because of the extreme cold and you have to do the run carrying a pick axe or a shovel (which me an my freinds had to carry because all the rest of the slackers were 2 busy wining)

Try doing it for real.

The Endurance course could be passed or failed by your ability to be able to fire 10 rounds into a fig 12 target from 25 yards. The pass mark for the endurance course was/is 70 minutes. Fail to fire off the rounds, add one minute. hit the target 10 times, delete one minute. So if you did it in seventy minutes and missed the target you failed.

Think on that, Cadets playing at it do not even come close. Sorry if this annoys you all but it is not a game. The Commando Course is very hard. 99.9% need not apply. So bin the "I'm a Cadet" and did the endurance course crap!

O and by the way, try spelling enough correctly!

Re: Spelling

I am getting f**king thredders with people not punctuating or spelling correctly.

It doesnt make for good reading and most of it is down to just being bone idle.

I have posted warnings before, from now on posts that dont meet the basic requirements of the English language will get binned. Without a PM warning or handing out a "bothered" chit.
