Not really sure mate, but to be comfortable I reckon you need to run at least 7minute miles constantly - eg: 49minutes for 7miles. Could be chatting bollocks though. Im getting withdrawal simptons from lack of drink - 100% committment to getting fit and no drink again ever! for two weeks.

To run 7 miles in 7 minutes = 60mph running speed. IIRC the fastest runner ever is only 25mph-30mph and thats only over 100 (less actually) meters.

7 minute miles isnt really THAT fast. As Para_hopefuly pointed out, top atheletes will be running 5 minute miles for marathons. Paula Radcliffe will run that for sure. Its just priming your body to cope with that sort of exertion thats the hard bit! Train hard, fight easy.

You really are a plonker arnt you. He means, to run 7 miles, running every mile in 7 minutes. So to work it out for you, thats 7 X 7 which equals 49 minutes, NOT 7!!!!!!

Screening week:

-Basic Army Swim Test. Tread water for 2 minutes, and swim 1 lap around the pool any stroke without touching the sides or bottom.
-Basic Fitness Test. 1.5 mile run best effort. You will need to get under 9:18, but i suggest you get under 9 minutes.
-Trainasium Arial Confidence course. 30-60ft assault course to show you have what it takes to be a airborne and jump when ordered.
-Steeplechase. 2 miles of pure pain. A cross country sprint with obstacles and water jumps.
-We had an intro to the land of nod, the infamous area in catterick where every para recruit dreads going. Its an old quarry with very steep scree slopes. We did over 15 sprints up them during a 3 mile run in the first week. But i think they have stopped that now.
You might have a gym session aswell. This will be very painful!!

7 miles in 59mins 53 seconds isnt bad though - compared to what I can do anyway. If you tried to run exactly 7 miles in the best time, rather than run for 1hour, you could probably knock off a lot of time. Obviously if you are running for a full hour, your are not running for 49 minutes - so you may need to run slower to store the energy for the extra 11minutes at the end.

Ive been jogging for about 45 minutes at a time, and covered aout 5miles in the process which equals about 9mins a mile! But if I tried to run 5miles at my best I reckon I could nail it in about 35mins (7min/mile). But im trying to get that down to 6minute miles - 30mins.

On my screening week we only did 1 water jump, and the rest of the obstacles, and not the assault course (which you do on p-coy). You dont do the 60ft parallel bars on the trainasium in screening week.
