Dermatitis?

Post by robouk »

Silly question.

I have Dermatitis on my hands. It can easily flare up and look a little nasty.

Would RM reject me for this?

dunno if it helps but on the british armed forces health apllication form bit it has a list of stuff that they can deny you entry for. stuff like eczema is in that list.

i have some sort of skin irritation that can flare up on my left index finger but the GP has never worked out what it is so im hoping it wont be an issue as its barely noticeable.

yeh but dont use your hand to cover your mouth.........doh!

Id try a course of hydrocortisone, now you probably have already but alot of people fark up in using it. Most people ply it on and then when it clears up bin the cream.

The key is to use it even when the rash has gone, and then gradually reduce the amount and frequency of application as you "ween" yourself off it. This way the body steps up its own cortisone production and helps keep the rash at bay. So even when its cleared go from twice daily to twice daily half the amount, then once daily half amount then once daily quarter amount then avery other day until the tube is empty.

If you work in a dirty enviroment use latex gloves or the newer hypo allergenic ones if latex gives you problems. (Iknow my all in one latex body suit with french tickler on my head makes me go red :o )

If your worried about having the cream on prescription and the AFCO finding out then just tell the GP you need some for cycling saddle sores.

Bottom line is hands are useful in the forces and especially fully functioning ones. Get them sorted and your in. Leave them be and your no good to man nor beast.

Yep, Listen to Doc, I tried hydrocortisone and it makes me ezema go away. SO far It only happens when hands are moist and air is damp and very high humidity.

Cheers Doc,

To the other boys in here, thing is, I hear training for a marine costs a lot of money so if I did make it in I don't think there would be a rush to get rid of me.

I'll look in to this cream.
