Following in footsteps i guess, ive got 2 cousins in the rm, well 1 and the other is in week 29/30 of recruit training but injured.

Theres no job like it really is there so i thought id never get bored, ill be disciplined and kept in good physical condition, just the type of job for me i think, well im pretty certain now, i love the thought of being in the marines and love ctcrm, i think training will be excellent and ill develope much better in the rm than any other day-day, 9-5 job!!

Also id actually want to get up and perform well in my duties, not thinking oh bloody hell another day in the office!! the kind of lifestyle that would always test me and keep me on my toes.

Pretty much the same as lil-j'88 with the emphasis on the challenges, seeing the world, sport, spending all your time with like minded individuals and the outdoors lifstyle. There's probably many other reasons that don't just spring to mind just now.

The playstation generation just gets on my tits now and I just want to gangster slap the next bitch who thinks I'm a nutter for going to the gym after work, lazy buggers!

I envy you lil-j'88, just six weeks till you go. Can't wait till I can get beasted and shouted at down at the CTCRM.

you'll be down there soon enough mate!!

my whole family thinks im mad for selling my ps2 and games and cant understand getting fit is better than sitting in searching for houses and holidays on the internet that you cant afford!! instead of wishing for lifes to be different i want to make my life a mint one, i rekkon thats very possible in the rm!! people who expect things to be done for them get on my t*ts!!

6 weeks seems miles away for me though!! lol oh well my time will come sooner than what 6 weeks really is im sure, recurits must have a riot, all wanting and thinking the same things, not having to put up with lazy generation of teens!! lol bit harsh i know but you know what i mean :-?

lil-j, when are you going to start training for your recruit training?

I've been training 5 days a week for 5 weeks now. only 1 more weeks left till PRMC, so atleast i feel prepaired!

To be honest it is getting to me now, especially the tedium side, but 1 week left, its nothing!

I suppose there is a chance i could be in the same troop as you?

Is that the earliest date thay had???

cheers dave

im sure youll pass prmc dave especially if you training 5 times a week at least i hope you do cause if you fail doing that it means ive underestimated the difficulty tenfold to be honest according to afco you dont have to be superman just fit i gues in training they turn you into superman :D

The luvvy version:-

"The Corps illustrious history coupled with a desire to experience new challenges."

The layman's reason:-

It's kind of become a challenge now to pass PRMC and then hopefully engage and complete training.
When I was first interested I had no idea what the whole procedure entailed, also most of the lads I've met down the AFCO etc who want to join the Marines seem like a good bunch so I hope it's a reflection.

I've been playing to many computer games, and watched to many war videos that I wanted to join the army, looked into it further and decided the army wouldn't be enough. Also my cousin is in and my friends dad was a RM officer but finished like 2 months ago and now hes in the navy...But most of it was playing to many games, watched to many films, was told i had a RM face :-? and loved guns when i was little.

I havent got a clue what first go me interested to be honest. My dad was in 4 Para, so that probably got me interested in the military. Ive wanted to join the Marines since I was about 14, because of the lifestyle - advanture, being outdoors, learinig new skills, etc. Then I started reading about the Commandos during WW2, the Falklands and the Gulf, so I like the idea of following in these mens footsteps. However now its more of a personal challange - to be mentally and physically fit enough.

Unfortuently for me im not yet physically fit enough. However, my determination to join is more than ever, but I just have to face facts that im not ready - down to laziness to be honest. So im off to uni later this month, and hopefully three years down the line I will be ready to go for it.

I bet your dad questioned his fathering abilities when you choose RM over PARA.

Watched a video about paras last night. Its called P-COMPANY, was very informative. :P
