PROAC Schedule

Post by DropkickedMurphy »

Well I have had a look around and I'm suprised that I can't find much info about PROAC, so can anybody tell me where I can find more info on it or give me a rough schedule so I can prepare properly for it?
Anyway I've gotta run now,

Cheers guys.

You cant be looking hard enough!

There are two reports on here about it, I know because I wrote one of them...not a good start.

In short expect a nice 3 day break at Honi as the guest of OC JROC and SNCO JROC..

PROAC info is hard to come by as SNCO PGAC posts on here will tell you.

They put more effort into getting PGAC info out as they have more people applying for gunner then officer.

Found some stuff now, to be fair I didn't want to spend ages looking for stuff unless someone could tell me there was something there

Now from what I have found out so far the whole process for joining starts with this presentation at the local AFCO... after that is it up to you which PROAC you do, and when you do the other assesments and that or do they try to bung you straight in? I just want to make sure I have plenty of preparation time to be among the best there...

Com on, would it really take ages to click search and type PROAC then click search?

I dont know, youth of today!

Ref Process - Not really, i've yet to have my P1 presentation from my SCLO, he was keen to get me on PROAC first, also as im a uni student I cant start the formal process for applying for an OASC spot until 6 months before being able to take an IOT place if I was offered.

Ref Which PROAC - Being honest they are always over subscribed, they can only take a max of 25 potential candidates per course, and there are only 3 of them a year. Best to get your phys together then go on one. Remember that your report will follow you to OASC, better to put it opff for a while then go and get a shyte report due to your phys etc.

My advise is to work on your upper body strength, you will be expected to get over the 9ft wall yourself, unaided and expect to do the assault course outside building 159 a min of 6 times!. Also the PTI's will trash you in the gym on the second day (but you will love it!).Keep your gob shut when you are told to and ask relevant questions when the oppertunity presents itself. The curry night in the OM is really good, even though it did finish for us at 11pm.

Just wondering how old are you? There is a reason for asking dont worry.

Yeah well I had a mate round so I didn't want to be pissing about on the computer.

Anyway, I'm 17 but I'll be 18 soon. So do you reckon I should just send off my 'application form' right now or not, seeing as I'm determined to be one of the best there?

In terms of phys I used to bodybuild so in terms of upper body strength I'm going to the gym and working with dumbells every other day as well as doing squats on the smith machine and using other leg machines. I'm running every day, doing pressups & pullups every day and soon I will be swimming twice a week in school (if only the Regiment wanted Rambo-lookalikes, since back in the day I used to use swimming to faff about and show off to the ladies...).
