Guardsman, at long last!!

Post by Grimey Vibes »

Hi everyone.

Passed out yesterday, and what a awsome feeling it is. It didnt really hit me that i was passing out untill we done a band rehersal that day before.

The parade couldn't of went better, with 37 men passing out the formings were long and went spectacular. Its the best feeling i have ever had. The best part was getting bought a drink buy my section commander and shaking his hand and the rest of the NCO's hand. They were normal and saying good luck rather than, having us Jack and Jill'in it up the hills or get down get massive and all that good stuff.

Any questions direct them this way and i will try to answer them.

!!BLUE RED BLUE!!

Well done mate. Don't forget you still have loads to learn so keep your head down and listen when you get posted to your unit.

Congratulations - you're now one of us.

Yeah, feels great to not have to go back there.

We didn't do all that much drill, after Adjudants we done 2 lessons of drill in 8 weeks. The sessions were just long, sometimes as long as 3 hours. To help build up parade fitness etc

Well, done pal and welcome to the Household Division.

Even though you have passed training and been sent to your unit ready for operations. Its only now you learn to become soldier. You will soon discover that there's allot you dont know yet but with time on excersise and in camp you will soon pick it up. Your whole career will be one big training period getting better and better at what you do.

Also you will probably be treated like the scum of the earth when you first get there. Thats just how it is, its not personnel we have all had it. Even though it ai'nt that bad now days. If your told to do something by some other Guardsman who maybe younger than you just do it, keep your head down and you will be all right. It doesn't last forever.

Anyway good luck and if you do ceremonial and your lining the mall watch out for those Cavalry lads giving you a kick as they ride down the mall. :D

Self praise is no recommendation pal. I prefer the lancers

Of course that depends on whether you're talking medium recce or close recce??

Ah well then - that kind of proves my point. If it's close recce then you've never actually worked with any other unit so you can't make comparisons.

That's sort of like saying that the Household Cavalry are the best mounted Royal guard in the UK.
