Official kit list and documentation for recruit training.

Post by lew »

Hi boys and girls. I've just come back from my pre training brief and thought this might help anyone else who is wondering just what to take and not to take down to CTC.

This is the OFFICIAL kit list handed out by AFCO's with all the small print added where needed.

The following documents must be takent to CTCRM lympstone

Proof of your national insurance number as issued by the department of social security.
Your national health card.
Duplicate form S3049.
Marriage certificate/ deed poll (if applicable).
Any recognised education certificates you may possess.
Your passport.
Your birth certificate (original or certified copy).
Any vaccination certificates you may possess.
Income tax form P45 (if previously employed) or P60 if applicable.
Bank account details.
Copy of immunisation certificate, Recruits must obtain a copy of their immunisation history (obtainable from GP or community health department of the local health authority) for production at the initial medical examination. Recruits not in possession of such a certificate will be assumed to require a FULL course of immunisations on joining.

Kit list for recruit training

Full smart civilian dress, to be worn on arrival at CTC. 1 set
Casual civilian dress (Smart jeans T shirts, and clean trainers are allowed) at least 2 sets.
Swimming trunks 1 pair.
Flip flops (or for you ozzys thongs) 1 pair.
Sports kit 2 pairs.
Training shoes 1 pair.

The following items should be brought with you, although they can be purchased at CTCRM

Clothes brush 1.
Coat hangers 6.
Shoe cleaning kit 1 set.
Soft yellow dusters (good quality for polishing shoes) 2.
Metal polish (eg brasso) 1 tin.
Washing powder 1 packet.
Steam Iron (essential) 1.
£30 - for items that will be bought from the camp shop.

personal hygiene in barracks

Shower gel 1.
Shampoo 1.
Comb 1.
Toothbrush 1.
Toothpaste 1.
Nail Brush 1.
Razor (non electric) + spare blades 1.
Large towel 2.

On this you will notice nothing about an ironing board, you are sent to get on Saturday morning, it also means not lugging one about on the train with you.

Mod's if I’ve inadvertently typed up classified information  please feel free to edit, delete my post.

I hope this helps someone as it took F*@ing ages to type up.

what the hell? I wasn't told to bring any of that stuff. I have my PRMC on tuesday, and I was told just to bring clothes, hygiene stuff, pe kit, etc. I wasn't told to bring any forms or anything. maybe I should call my afco.

Argos sell a rather large holdall for £19.99

Also, lew, I think humour needs to go on that list.

More clothes hangers including at least two if not more trouser hangers. More dusters. Cotton wool balls for bulling drill shoes/boots (though these are available from NAAFI). Make sure shoe polish is normal Kiwi black - NOT parade gloss! After Foundation grab some parade gloss for your drill boots, but don't get caught with it in Foundation. Swimming trunks of the y-front variety - the PTIs are all poofs. Sense of humour essential - cheerfulness under adversity and all that bollocks.

I wouldn't worry about the not using Parade Gloss, I've found that the shine that can be acheived with regular Kiwi Black doesn't dull half as fast as the shine acheived with Parade Gloss.

Just one of those bullshit things, you're not meant to use parade gloss. Take it with you and just stow it in your civvy locker until you're out of Foundation. You don't need it though, I only ever use normal Kiwi and boots come up fine.

Thanks for the taking the time to post all that Lew, some interesting stuff. With the documents, what is the national health card you need to bring? Is it the one that just gives you name address and GP etc, or is it like your full record?

Cheers
Doug
