PRMC getting easier?

Post by Taylor1 »

Lately ive been hearing about a lot of changes in the setup of the PRMC, it sounds like its getting easier and easier. I heard (stressing heard) through the nod vine that the PTI's arnet even allowed to give the famous 'warmup' on bottom field anymore.

Could somebody who has recently been on a PRMC please update my knowledge?

Cheers

They've switched the order of the tests around. 3 Miler and Gym Test 1 on Day 1. Bottom Field and Gym Test 2 on Day 2.

I attempted and passed one around a month ago, having failed one last year. To be honest I think it's down to the PTI in charge of what's going on. Last year there was more holding pressup position, pressups etc, whereas this year there was more sprints and such. I can't say it was easier second time round. I knew what to expect and knew how to train a bit more specifically for it. It probably varies depending on who you ask.

Ye I agree, It does depend on what PTI you have. At the end of the day you still need the same qualities today as you would 3 years ago. So I would say it hasn't got any easier.

Does it matter if PRMC is easier? you still have to get through the 32 weeks!

Having done one last the week before last, I can comfirm that it is anything but easy. You still get a "warm up" on bottom field.

The fact is, anyone on this forum who is going to attempt PRMC should not fail, we all have so much, if not the most up to date info on what PRMC is like, with one of us down there every few weeks to a month.

I totally agree, the end product is exactly the same. I mean you still have to do the commando tests at the end of the course, and the training team have to get you ready for them. Also with gym test 2 and bottom field on the second day this would be a killer because of the effects of the previous day. I think this change will filter out more determined potential recruits rather than just the fit ones.

The first day is, and the second day is.

I know I should use do some research but don't you do a thrashing on the endurance course with logs and things any more?

It shouldn't get easier because (a) the enemy may not be slacking off at the same time but most importantly (b) the lads I finished training with would have been there (maybe without me  ) if training was twice as hard and twice as long (hard to imagine though). Lads today deserve to feel that they've stepped into a tradition and earned their lids as much as anyone else on here no matter when they did their training.

If PRMC is getting easier then you'll get more wastage but if training is easier then it's not fair on the good lads who I have no reason to doubt could and would have done it years ago.

I remember my first visit to the endurance course, the warm-up in the carpark nearly killed me

When I did the PRC its was hell from minute one to endex, only relaxation was the evening lectures, in which I fell asleep :o

The DL twisting a pair of denims around the taps to ring out the water post dhobi creased me up..."these taps Gents are bootneck proof..." with that the tap promptly snapped off and we all got drenched in water

Funny as flip.

After the PRC I went home on the train with another lad and we both vowed never to go back there again :o Only six of us passed out of thirty-odd and it was an emotional experience. Saw him a few weeks later outside the dhobi block......."not much on so I thought I'd give it a go" was the answer. Still a good oppo these days.

Ive got mine tomorrow, and I agree that the forums have been an invaluble source of information regarding the PRMC and the Corps as a whole. However personal determination and commitment must never be overlooked. Hopefully ill show that in the days ahead.
