Anyone In The Navy...?
Name me a job today which isn't? As I mentioned earlier the Navy is surely better than most civvy jobs! Who have you ever met that actually enjoyed their job? All I can say is that there may be downsides to the navy but there are worse jobs!SeaCat wrote:I can only give out advise on my experiences. And just to say the Navy is a cost cutting Politcally correct health and safety ridden s**** hole.1 in 2 duties...1 in 3 best for half a year, 1 weekend off a month. But thats just me......I`ll stop complaining before people start complaining.

Yeah civvy jobs are shite to, but you can go home every night and piss it up with your mates when ever you want.skoot wrote:Name me a job today which isn't? The navy sucks. It lures you in with flashy adverts, smooth talking careers officers and flashy brochures. Then it gently eases you past your PVR date and then when you're trapped, it throws shit storm after shit storm at you. To be honest I feel absolutely gutted I didn't quit. Im in London this weekend on Illustrious and guess what? I've been stitched weekend duty, again!! Hoorahh!!
This post was typed up in front of a live studio audience at pinewood studios England.
The onus really is on you though to make sure you research your career carefully. Anyone I have met or talked to so far in the navy has been more than happy to tell me the downsides to the service so its not as if they hide it from you before you join. I think people who realise now that they don't like the navy try and blame the careers officer etc for their own lack of initial research. Obviously some people will hate the navy, however you all applied of your own free will! No-one forced you.Powder monkey wrote:Yeah civvy jobs are shite to, but you can go home every night and piss it up with your mates when ever you want.skoot wrote:Name me a job today which isn't? Oh no, not a chockhead!!!
Forget promotion - dead mans shoes, although the exam is easy (eg How many ringbolts on the deck of an aircraft carrier? Actual question!!!)
Very much a sit around and wait job. It will probably set you up if you want to join the fire service outside.
Nod, if you want a good role in the Navy be a chef. Noone has ever passed the course and the always have the best parties on board. Alternatively become an AET (they were AEMs when I was in) or (shock horror) become a stoker.
Apathy exists in every job, whether its civvie or forces. SSDD wherever you are.

Well you did become an OM - what do you expect? Guess you won't be staying long after your return of service, eh?The navy sucks.
