im quite confused, whilst watching sky news today regarding the bullying within forces concerns, it showed female soldiers wearing green berets ! now i know girls arent allowed in the marines so ruled that out. is there another part of uk forces that sport a similar beret to the marines at all ?

if so im not impressed by it takes the gloss off the men who i believe have earned theres a lot more than what a female soldier has done to attain her similar beret :-?

I think you'd call it an oxymoron.

Various Army units wear different coloured Green Berets.

The Int Corp.

Light Infantry.

Royal Green Jackets.

And I dare say a couple I cannot remember at this time, The RA and the RE wear the Proper Lid as do a few other Corps. Royal Sigs, REME, AAC, ACC, but only when attached to the Royal Marines. Once they go back to the normal Army they have to wear the lid of their Corp/Regiment, but are still entitiled to wear the Commando Flash. And if any Member of the Army ever tells you he is a Commando and looks blank when you ask him about CTCRM take it as read he's a farking Walter!

Have met a few of the twonks over the years and boy to they sulk when you face them with the fact they are talking out of their arses!!! Good Fun Outing them mind! :D

Just out of interest, I work at a tri-service training establishment. We have quite a few re-badged soldiers and a couple of RN MAs. One particular MA has obviuosly done an attachment to a Cmdo and done his AACC. He still insists he is entitled to wear cmbt 95 (as opposed to normal RN rig), he green beret and his mudguards. He is re-training for another RN trade. Some of the other RN permanent staff have quietly questioned his right to still dress this way - is he right or wrong. I do not want to tell this fella to remove something if he is perfectly entitled to wear it but being from a different Service I am unsure of the facts.

Ref: The sailor wearing CS95

He should wear CS95 when serving with 3rd CDO BGE or other RM units otherwise he should wear blue rig. It is up to his HOD to inforce this. I think he may be wanting to wear CS95 just so he can wear his green lid.
He can however wear his sholder flashes in all rigs in all establishments ie Gold on Blue flashes on his Blue suite (No.1-4 dress etc)

The Int. Corps, the RGJ and clerks wear a green beret, but they are a different green. However, and yeah I'm probably getting confused here, but the Light Infantry we train with have the same beret we have in the Staffords and throughout the Army. Also, and ditto what I said above, the Royal Marines have only had the green beret since 1942 haven't they? That's when the first Royal Marines Commando was raised. It was a choice of green or yellow I think. Now I've said that, it's going to turn out to be a pile of bollocks isn't it?
