anxious!

Post by melly742 »

OK I've been to 2 proper job interviews so far and underestimated both. Not in terms of company research or interview, but in skills tests. I passed one of them but today's one I doubt it!

Anyway, this gets me a bit anxious about the RAF aptitude tests I have tomorrow. I found the practise tests fine, Are the real ones a lot like the practise ones? Any last minute swotting, or is it literally common sense? I just don't want another shocker when I get there and not be able to do anything for a while!!

Thanks

You've probably seen it, but theres a bit of info and peoples views on the tests here mate: http://www.militaryforums.co.uk/cforums ... php?t=8950

Just do the ones in the book you were given, try remembering things you watch on tv adverts, news etc, and recall as much as you can to practise for the memory tests. This and the work rate section were the parts I found most difficult. Wasn't prepared enough for the memory tests kind f caught me by surprise! :o

Best of luck,

Ben :D

Hi Melly.

Loads of people been posting saying that they are worried about the interview and aptitude tests. My advise is not to worry bout it.

For the aptitude tests just turn up relaxed and coinfident. You can't really revise for most of it because they test your IQ based skills, things such as mathmatics (you could revise for this but becuase of the timing element it tests your natural ability with numbers rather then your knowledge), mechanical skills, verbal and non-verbal reasoning etc. Just read the "Joining the RAF - Your next steps" booklet its all in there, those are the same types of questions you will get in the tests.

And like B_H100 said the memory section is the hardest, but this comes at the end so don't worry bout it and try your best. I have an awful memory so the memory section was my worst scoring part (least i think it was, i don't really remember!! 8) )

For the interview you'll find it totally different to civvie interviews. Where as in civvie interviews you have to suck up and kiss the interviwers arse, in the AFCO one you'll find that being honest and acting yourself is the best bet.

It went well thanks - got exactly the points I needed for the trade (air cartography) and after thinking it was closed, got told it was made a priority trade yesterday! Chuffed!

Finished all the maths questions and got right in 4 minutes, but hardly got any done of work rate!! Anyway should have an interview in a week or 2 they said.

Thanks for the help guys.

I haven't found anything online. The practise tests they give you help as they are a really good indication of what is on the real test. If you don't know much about mechanics or electrics, revise it (GCSE science books?), though some of it is common sense.
