I want to join the marines as an officer, but i haven't found anywhere a site that tells me what the job involves, only going on about how hard the training is. Are there any officers using these forums, and if so i would like to know RM officers fight alongside their men, or is it mainly paperwork, like people say it is in the army. Would it be better to join as a marine then try to get a commision to an officer?

I was hoping it was more leading his men into the battle than sitting in the mess.
"send those lovely chaps over there. i hope they'll be okay, they're heavily outnumbered. glad i'm not with them!"
