Newbie from Yorkshire

I`ve been lurking around the forums since my son decided to join the light Infantry, he is now in his forth week of training at Catterick. We saw him recently at a parents day and I have to say the changes in just four weeks are remarkable. I was rather curious (being an RAF Officer person)about how the army went about their training of new recruits and like many parents all to aware of the recent negative publicity surrounding recruit training; after a day of talking and listening to the other recruits, parents and the training team I felt greatly reassured. The armys "train in,not train out" approach to training is to be commended.
The British Army is indeed the best army in the world. (RAF being the best airforce in the world :D )

No one has replied to your post yet, so I will, although I can't offer much in the way of military stuff!

My only point of reference is my son who joined up in March .... Royal Artillery and currently doing his best to get to the other side of P-Company.

The Army experience, so far, has resulted in a 110% turn around for him in terms of ambition and motivation..... as I'm sure folk on the forum are truly sick of hearing!

What regiment/unit has your son joined up with at Catterick? I take it he is in ITCC at the moment?
