In The Airborne the high walk used to be a bridge over a canal and recruits used to be asked to walk over the on the girders, just to see if they had any head for heights, and a number used to refuse. Well if they could not do that then how are they going to be able to jump from a plane.
This used to be when the training was done in Aldershot, so no doubt they have found some thing else to test them on. Still Dante it is not that this is going to worry you for some years.

I think what Tab is trying to say, is that you are not yet in the Army, and to even get on SAS selection you have to be a service of the Armed Forces for a minimum of 3 years, so there is obviously no need to worry about it yet, as you have got a long way to go before SF selection.

Thanks for taking the time to reply adj.

I've taken the liberty of sending a PM to you.

Well Dante, you asked a question which I answered in a civilized manner and pointed out that you would not have to worry about what you had to do to pass the selection course for the SAS for a number years. Now this seems to have upset you for some reason or other, and when some one pointed out what the reply was all about you threw a wobbly, now if I had known that you had already obtained the grade in the Army I would not have to answer your question as you would have already known it. There was a time when even the Para's would only take trained soldiers from other Regiments and then do their selection through the P Course, as they did not train their own men from raw recruits.

Thank you Tab & james (future para),

In a nutshell you have highlighted one of the main problems with internet forums - anyone can reply to a post. Whether this reply is useful or relevant is another matter altogether.

Both of you see fit to 'advise' me on what i should and shouldn't be worrying about in life:
you would not have to worry about what you had to do to pass the selection course for the SAS for a number years
there is obviously no need to worry about it yet
Neither of you could answer my question yet both felt the need to reply - interesting.

When one of my sons butts in like this i often use the phrase "you've got nothing to say and you're saying it too loud". I think it is apt for this exchange too.

At no time have i ever claimed to be in the slightest bit interested in attempting selection - I am however interested in the selection process (hence my posting in the Joining and Training section).

Not wanting to labour the point - if you dont know the answer - dont post! Prowl the SF section looking for someone else to patronise.

Regards<

Dante.

I have never served in the Army. As I was a Bootneck. However.........

Tab gave you some advice. Tabs been there and done it. He's only trying to tell you how it is.
So may I suggest that YOU wind your neck in!

People like you are the reason so many people have left this forum.

Listen in Dante

Why the hell should I need to talk about what I did in the Mob? Most Real People have a tendancy to talk about the good times, OK? Why should I talk what I consider to be the Bad Times. I was in Hospital for two and a half years because of those times. And if I wish to talk to someone about it It sure as Hell isn't going to be to some None entity such as yourself Sunshine!

Tab just pointed out that you need'nt worry about the walk or whatever. But you got a Sad on and started mouthing off.

This forums not about trying to blackcat people. It's original aim was for like minded people to be able to natter about the past. Which to the average bloke means the laughs not the Sh**y stuff.

Pillocks who ask inane pointless questions like "Have you ever killed anyone" need to get a life. I like quite a few of the Old n Bold have been in the deep stuff. We all know whos done what.

What is it with people like you? Why not bugger off to the ARRSE site? A bigger bunch of Walters and Wannerbies you could not hope to meet!

Boo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!
Gutted! Devastated! Cut to the quick!!!

Nobody likes us, everybody hates us,
I think we should go and eat worms.
Big fat juicy ones, wee thin skinny ones,
see how they wriggle and squirm

we bite off the heads and suck up the juice,
and throw the skins away
Nobody knows how we can survive on worms three times a day :P

Dante, great post. I like your style.

Again, appologies for my first "patronising" post. I should stop appologising, Paras aren't allowed to say sorry.

But the point in fact is, you're not a para.

what i dont understand is, why would a guy, who has no intentions of joining, let alone training in the special forces, go onto a forum about joining and training in the special forces, and ask questions about training exercise’s in the special forces.
I cant say anyone will be sad to see an obvious forum space-waster leave.
Good riddance I say.
