Will it affect me?

Post by mancuniankid »

Ok please dont say im bad or a SCALLY/SCROAT or whatnot, but basically i made a real bad mistake 3 months ago now and now im wondering will it stop me doing what i really want.

I went to my mates 18th birthday party on 17th July this year, and like most partys there was beer and drugs. Anyway i was stupid and i decided to buy 6 ectasy pills. Well during this party i took 3 of them and my mate had cocaine so i had 2 lines of that and i was smokin weed all night.

Later on in the party a little fight started between me and this lad, the police where called by some neighbours and i was found to be in possesion of a knuckle duster and 3 pills.

I was arrested, cautioned for the duster and i now have to go back to the police station on the 31/10/04 to find out whats happening about the pills, (my solicitor said i should just get another caution because they were for personal use).

Well since that day i have regretted what i did, i havnt touched any drug of any type, i dont even smoke no more. I got myself a job and im now at college doing a uniformed services course. But im still worried that what i did will affect my chances of getting in the Marines, but surely were all allowed to make mistakes.

A Little advice would be gratefull plz

OOO harsh Cliodna! have you not done something stupid in your life?

Well anyway Future_Marine depending on the outcome of what happens with the police things can come out differently. The most likely scenario being is that you will have to wait a year or to as rehabilitation to show you dont touch them or get yourself into anymore bother. Ring up your local AFCO and tell them truthfully what you have done and they can advise you further. I have a mate who smashed his dads head with a frying pan and took off with his car for a little joy ride, got convicted of GBH, driving without a licence, driving uninsured, reckless driving, etc... and he still got into the marines, he is a changed person and total respect to him hes had a sh*tty life so he deserves this break.

Course I have, but
1. It didn't involve drugs
2. I didn't get caught

I think there must be a moral to that story somewhere

OoooooOOooooooo!!!
Are you about to flash??? :P

You obviously realise what a stupid twat you have been, otherwise you wouldn't have been asking us not to remind you of the fact.

Like Gunn says, you are going to have to wait til the outcome of your next police visit before you can do much else. The AFCO probably won't be able to advise you further until then either.

Now then boys and girls...let that be a lesson to you all

I'm in danger of sounding old fashioned, and out of touch with the 'real' world, but what the hell!

I sincerely hope that what Future_Marine did does have an effect on whether he can join the Corps. Moreover, I hope he will soon have to change his profile name. We can't be that desperate for recruits, and I am assured that the days of 'Steven Preece' and his like in the Corps are long gone.
Hitler branded Commandos as convicts, thugs, murderers and criminals, so I wouldn't want to prove him right after all these years.

The drugs aside, (I didn't even know you could survive a combination like that!) this guy thought it was OK to go to his mates birthday party carrying a knuckle duster! I thought it was traditional to take a bottle of wine maybe. 8)

It's an interesting situation though, and time will tell.

Derek
Time will tell thats for sure and hopefully i will show everyone that what i did was wrong and that i will of gone from one of the nations worst to one of nations finest.

I took the duster because i had just bought it for my bedroom wall and i just wanted to show it my mates, even when it kicked of i didnt pull it out.

Oh and its not really like a true Englishman to give a f@#k what Shitler said!

You took a duster out to show your mates?

I see why you didn't pull it out.

The best thing to do my friend is contact your recruiting office and inform them. You may wish to contact the Investigating Officer and plead with him showing how far you are on in the recruiting process.

It is up to him. I might possibly be able to write you out of a conviction if I tried. Perhaps he might do this for you.

I think they are, given that they were offering bounties for ex-nods and ex-Trained Soldiers in the last Globe & Buster.

FUBAR

Thanks, but I know about the recruiting shortfall, and the offers to guys to re-enlist. We all queued up at CTCRM during September's RMA Reunion, as the £6000 would have been very welcome!

That's really why I wrote, 'We can't be that desperate for recruits.' I should have emphasised 'that'. We discussed this on the onceamarine site, and the feeling was that the Corps shouldn't lower recruiting standards just to meet targets. Retention plays a part in this too.

Future_Marine, here is a post made by Sticky Blue which should answer your questions, once the coppers decide what they're going to do http://www.militaryforums.co.uk/cforums ... t=criminal I received a Conditional Discharge (which becomes an Absolute Discharge in December assuming I'm a good boy) for Threatening and the AFCO said it shouldn't be a problem even though as of December it doesn't become "spent" for six months. We'll see when it comes to the Security Clearance bit though. It looks like you may run into a problem if Ecstacy is a "Class A" drug and the po decide to charge you. You won't be able to apply while you have "obligations to the justice system" so it'll be a while if the courts are as backed up as they are here (from offence date to sentencing I waited 16 months), could be good as you'll need time for your body to have no traces of the drugs and get your phys up to speed. Wish you luck mate if you're willing to give that shit up. Cheers, Kyle.
P.S. When you go see the police in a couple of weeks, be honest but really stress how you're ashamed of your behaviour and are scared shitless of how it could ruin your dream. I was a cocky little twat when I had to see the police and I bet their reccomendation to the Crown wasn't in my favour, so instead of swallowing my pride to a policeman who was a good guy and probably would have at least heard my side of the story I thought I was in a John Grisham novel and knew the law. So it cost me almost a year and a half of my life of putting my goals on hold and about $8,000 on a lawyer, plus the embarassment.
