Hello to all
I was wondering about three years ago i dislocated my left knee cap doingt martial arts, nothing has hapened for three years altough, it does grind a bit and and the knee cap itself does move differently to what it should do. It does not give me any pain but feels wierd during winter.
I have just been to the afco and have my barb test on friday, if i do well enough i would like to apply for the paras. Im just wondering that it might stop applying or passing the medical for the army never mind the para reg as i understand the requirements are high and rigid, as it will be on my medical records
can any one give me advice
with thanks ric

Just bear in mind that from Day 1 in Catterick you will be doing Hard PT and progressing onto PT with weight. This WILL be hard work for the knees and it is really 1) up to the Doc whether you are capeble of completing training and 2) whether you think your knees will come off worse than everyone elses and if you mind risking that or not.
I am not sure what the medics will say, but if they say you are fit to do training, then go for it mate.
James
p.s. how does it feel when you do personal PT at home or in the gym?

I don't think it's going to stop you or they would have already rejected you after you sent your writtin medical off.
At selection, the doctor will apply pressure to your knee and ask if it hurts. You then squat down and hop up and down, then walk backwards (still in a squatted position) The doc is listening out for creeking noises and seeing if you experience any pain. If you get past this your set to start Phase 1.
If you think your knees up for the job, go for it!
