Hi Carlisle-Youth

Ive just fininshed the 1st 3 weeks at lympstone. Im in the same troop as Machiavellian and davo 141, the mighty 881 troop! We havent had parents day yet because of summer leave but we've got it the 1st week when we get back.

On parents day your family and friends will be shown round C.T.C, they'll be given lectures on training, Hunter coy, Phys sessions, what sort of problems you will face through training and they'll meet your training team. You also get to have lunch with them in the galley, and they watch you in the gym, and they participate in your drill sessions. Then you go on a long weekend leave (Fri-Sun) with them.

With regards to photos, i'm not sure. I'm more inclined to say no for security purposes.

You are allowed 'ashore' on the 1st saturday of training for the afternoon. You can pretty much do what you want to as long as you return to C.T.C on time, or before it, and you don't get minging or start fighting with the locals etc. I suggest you use this time to get to know your oppos in a social environment away from the crap that is foundation, because it'll be a while before you get the chance to do it again.

Hope that answers your questions

Hi Carlisle

The phys side I have to say has been hard, and I'm fairly good at it. I'm the fastest in out troop at the camp circuits, and can do the most pull-ups in our troop. The reason why I think I find it hard is down to 2 things, 1) I get bloody nervous when I get to the gym, and 2) I give more than they ask of me in there so i'm leaving the place absolutely knackered.

The idea behind the phys at this early stage is to build everyone up from the same base level of fitness so they can get you up to the level they require you to be in order to pass the tests that lie ahead of you.

If you're finding the phys easy you're not giving 110%. It should be hard for everyone. Press-ups were my weakness but I've done so many of them in the past few weeks that they've now become a strength no word of a lie.

We got issued our bergens, webbing etc. in week one. The only time I've been to Exeter was on the 1st saturday. Royal Marines are only allowed in 3 pubs in the town. The Turks head, Hogs head and the other one I can't remember. In one of the pubs there were a couple of girls walking round with 'Marine Hunter' T-shirts on. With these girls you're pretty much guarenteed a shag! :D

If you've got any other questions mate just give me shout
