Back from PGAC

Post by oban3 »

hey all - passed PGAC.

I know there have been a few posts already about the structure of the course so i won't bother going over the same grounds.

All the main fitness tests - 10 pushups, 25 situps, bleeptest 9.01 and 3 miler (which is done in 22 mins) I found easy - just make sure you can hit double the targets normally and the fitness tests will be easy.

I also found that the course was as much a military introduction (inspections, marching, discipline etc) as a fitness test. A very good insight into the military lifestyle.

The ex on 2nd day was pretty hard work - the tab is alrite as long as you leg it up front (no playing catch up) - also when we arrived there were some beastings but nothing too major. We also practiced section attacks which was good fun and again a good insight into military training.

Through the night was also interesting - the team have some suprises but i'll let you find out about that. I did'nt realise aswell that you tab back from the harbour area .

Lastly nobody actually failed the course, there was 23 people at the start and 5 people binned it cause they thought it wasn't for them - interestingly 1 of the lads was in the TA for 2 years and another was in the RAF Regt Auxillary for a year and they both dropped out. What were they expecting.

Apart from that you will have a good laugh, just keep your head down (grey man) and work hard. One lad actually told the Corporal to shut up thinking it would be funny (no joke) so we got 70 pushups to the Corporals count (nobody managed :) ).

Any questions what so ever, please don't hesitate to PM me.

Well done Oban. Hope you enjoy the RAF, not as much fun as CTC by the sound of it. 8)
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Don't know if you've already answered this mate (sorry if you have!) but why did you drop out of the marines?

Also, how does PRMC compare to PGAC?

When I was in the Marines I thought I did'nt like military life, training got on top of me too quickly and I flumped. But soon to realise I had made a bad mistake and re-appled for another service almost straight away. Gotta stop being a girl about training. So I wanted to try something else to get a new start, will defintley try AACC if the opportunity comes up. But at the moment cracking on with RAF Regt training and will be going in with a very determined attitude (am not quiting this time) :).

Also the PRMC is a lot harder physically, mainly because their basic outlined fitness tests and a lot higher than the Regiment (pushups, situps, pull-ups, 3 miler is done faster etc) and you also have the bottom field thrashing on PRMC which is nails....

But as far as a military insight goes I would have to say the PGAC course was better - we spent 24 hours in the field and tried section attacks and stagging through the night with a few other surprises. We also had a few kit inspections, showing how all our stuff should be laid out etc. As with the PRMC it was all about fitness (and discipline of course).

See you there Oban mate. :o. I disagree that the 3 Miler is faster on PRMC - We were told 24mins but we annoyed the PTI so 21 mins we had to do it in :S
