Missing medical records

Post by bigbart »

I'm currently in the process of trying to get into the Army. I was in once before, only for a few months (I'll not go into why I left, I'll keep it short) and now the application process has changed a bit. I had to take a form to my doctors, asking about my medical history. But my doctor has said they can't find my medical notes, all they have is the medical papers the Army gave me the last time I left. So that's all he's sent back. Will this prevent me getting in? Or slow down the process? Maybe some of the older, bolder serving or retired soldiers will know?

It'll slow it down until it stops. :(

Basically, the doctor needs to put in a request to some central NHS location where they keep a copy of your medical records. Until they arrive from there, they won't even let you do the 1st Interview. (If they do, they certainly can't put you forward till the 2nd one.)

I lost my records and they took seven months to surface again. You might have better luck than me, but I had a horrible time. In the end the doctors put it through as an emergency request, and with some.. bribery, you might be able to convince yours to do a similar thing.

Good luck, and don't lose heart! (Saying that, I've been stalled waiting for my second interview, I think it's because of the hiring freeze.)

I've already had my 1st interview and my BARB test, and I'm hoping that they'll be okay with my medical papers from last time I came out of the Army. The sergeant at AFCO thinks it'll be alright, he's going to send what he has off to glasgow and wait for a response. I'll wait as long as I have to but I wish the doctors would just do their f@#&%ng jobs right

I hope so. But it's still slowing everything down. My doctor's surgery have always been useless sods anyway.

I don't know about with JJ but with me, it's not the AFCO's fault. I first walked into an AFCO in february. I didn't set everything moving til may, though.

Chin up son! I applied back in December, and just when I thought I was finally sorted out, turns out that after medically clearing me, they've changed their minds and revoked it. They have written to me for more information on something, and I'm stuck waiting for the letter to appear.

I've run out of morale! :)

Well that cheered me up, ta. :-?
So it looks like the whole recruitment process has slowed down almost to a halt? For f@#%s sake get me out of this job and back into combats...

I did read somewhere about them not taking any new recruits untill October from about May this year, maybe this is why everyone seems to be having delays with there applications, i had to wait 4 months just to get to my 2nd Interview. I was losing motivation for the army and stopped training because i didn't seem to be getting anywhere. After it all got sorted i have started to train again and i am now motivated again :D

I don't thin I'll lose motivation training-wise because I train anyway, even before I considered the Army. If I can get in by October that's fair enough, I just don't want to be waiting a year like some people have..
