If there are any Rhodesian War veterans who have awards, decorations and medals outstanding and are interested in claiming them, I may be able to help.
I am in contact with the one man that the Zimbabwean Government allows to deal with this. There are 9000+ medals (mostly RGSMs) in 120 boxes, but not in alphabetical order, and the Zimbabwean Govt. will NOT allow anyone to help him go through each box, after checking through the lists. Plenty of BCRs and 'I Surrendered' gongs knocking around as well.
As he has his own business he can't spend days up there checking things out, but has set aside every Wednesday morning to go through what he can in that time. All the details were written by hand, which took nearly 8 months to do, and Ian is having to check queries against the listing, and then find the medal he thinks may be yours, to make sure it is physically there, and that the details are correct in order to claim each one.
If he finds your medal, he will need a form signed by the recipient, address etc, which I can e-mail to you, to say he may collect on your behalf, and then arrange the payment, and posting details.
This is a huge task, and he has asked for your patience, and he will do his very best for you, as it is very sad when a recipient doesn't get his medals.
