am i doing pushups correctly ? [Video]

Post by Gary_amsterdam »

I made a video of me doing about 7, I guess its the easiest way, as explaining pushups on paper is a bit weird.

My arms are under my shoulderd and my elbows stick out a bit oppsed to the RM style were they are tucked in completly. My elbows are sticking out the way they are on the video 'fit for the best' I was handed after my barb.

I can do about 35 now. I usually do 15 every 15 minutes and add 2 on every 2 days. that got my max up 15 in about 2 weeks.

I would make your body straighter as its a bit bent.

The problem most people have with push up's is keeping a straight body, its bent from position at the top, your body should be completely straight. If you look at the video are you telling me its straight??
Look at your starting position and at the top, you need to tuck your backside in as from there it goes down.

They are different. Army pushups are very rigid whereas Royal Marine pushups are done with a much more fluid movement. This difference is based on the naval aspect of the Marines where pushups are done on deck. By the nature of being at sea you must correct your balance due to the movement of the ship.

Do women do their press ups differently to the male recruits in the Army? I have heard that because of the female body the press ups are done differently because of the strain it puts on the pelvis. I was just wondering if the fitness standards are the same for female recruits who join the TA? Sorry to drag this press ups thread out but just humour me o.k? :)
