It's a PR stunt isn't it numb nuts. The one thing that would make the yanks look really like oppressive infadel scum is to go and fight in one of IRaq's most precious cemetaries. I realise that if the enemy were attacking them etc. But at the end of the day the yanks should have known better than to chase them into that cemetary with TANKS and stuff, it's gonna further sour relations between the Yanks and the rag heads.

Actuially, is this the cemetary?
Sorry if it isn't. I remember a few days ago, the yanks chasing some terrorists into one of the world's largest cemetarys, that is what my remarks above relate to.

yes i understand what they are trying todo, and how yet again the BBC picks up on it, but that wasnt my point.

it wouldnt suprise me if they were already their in for one of thier fantastic "ambushes"!!! -bollox to em ! its only a few buildings, they shouldnt be so hung up by this crap.... and instead of critisicing shouldnt the likes of Iran be pursuading them to cease hostilities and help rebuild Iraq? ??

so what if they wer chased in there, they shouldnt seek refuge and continue fighting in a place they consider so valuable!!! -its a shame peope dont see them for the cowards they really are!

I agree to some extent, in that they shouldn't be spouting off trollox about 'this is an attack on all SHIA everywhere' which any reasonable person can see is trollox. However, this is how those people think and the yanks should have known better. It's just like in Somalia, where one of the biggest insults is to show a person the bottom of your shoe, so what do the yanks do? Fly around everywhere with their feet dangling out of their helicopters.

There is one thing I think you need to bear in mind: much of what the US troops in Iraq do in terms of "politically sensitive" targeting (cemeteries, shrines, mosques and the like) does not come from military command, these are actions ordered by the civilian leadership.
The military follows politicians' orders which they often know to be misguided at best.
You know it's called micro-management. But really, what do you expect them to do? Disobey?

They shouldnt let a situation develop where they have to fire on holy shrines. Would the British Army do it the same way?

On top of that do they have to show it with such glee on TV?

I was watching FOX News recently and I swear the anchorman was enjoying showing the clips of US troopes pounding minarets with tracer fire by the grin on his face. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

Also Iran is a majority Shia country isnt it? Obviously they're gonna be mad.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda...

How quickly we forget.

"It's not the critic who counts. It's not the man who points out how the strongman stumbles, or where the doer of the deed could have done it better. The credit belongs to the man in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, who at best knows the high achievement of triumph, who at worst, falls while daring greatly for he knows his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat." - Theodore Roosevelt

Last time I checked they didn't sit down have tea an crumpits and decide when and were they wanted to fight.
I personally think that the Bush administration is doing a good thing by allowing their soldiers to engage shooters in mosques.

How about the same glee the terrorists had while they cut off that blokes head?
