A few reminders

Post by El Prez »

I have a few photos taken from a different viewpoint of the 'troubles'. I was fortunate to spend my tours in a relatively safe environment, and even had time on occasion to take some happy snappies.
Ponder and remember.

Gerry's mates decided that the OP was bringing the quality of the neighbourhood down, so they decided to takethe OP down, WRONG!

Sept 19th 1977, A busy night for one and all. Andy O'Pray may remember this one. They actually wired the handles of the petrol pumps open at the garage and let fuel drain into the mains drains! The garage is top centre of the photo, so you can see just how much consideration they gave to the safety of "Their" citizens. It is not true to say the Irish are thick (speaking as a Mick) It is true to say they are psychotically (word?) thick.
The following is a copy of the official log. The next morning I was so knackered that when my toast jammed in the toaster at the Sgts Mess I rammed my knife in to loosen it and got a lovely tan!

Scrambled to a shooting involving the 45th Regt of Bootnecks one evening I only just allowed the engine and gearboxto coincide before departing, in my keeness to get there. Consequently when I got back the clutch was a tad out of harmony with the rest of the beast.
The REMEs were really happy bunnys and did the strip and swap without a word of complaint or comments about my parentage or failure as a Phantom Pilot. :o
We got there really quickly! :P

This one was caused by them shifting the bomb from one van to another...

This bloke was brills. He only ever answered to his callsign and never gave away state secrets. Naughty boy flying in a woolly pully. Severe risk of damp armpits, and bobbles.
We were in the middle of following some of Gerry's eejits when the phot decided to do his artisitic thing. Basatrd didn't check my lighting, make-up or give me an explanation about the scene and my motivation. I very nearly asked for a body double, but he was still pigging out to get in shape.
