Andy I think you can take your phone, but never let it be heard, and certainly don't carry it around.
PS There's no such thing as a stupid question............. unless it starts, "Which is better............?"

I know a certain bunch of recruits who were allowed to take their mobs on the 30 miler so family & friends could send texts of encouragment. The section Corporal was a new face at CTCRM though, fresh from the Gulf.

Phones are allowed and i would even go as far as saying keep it in the office(dont make a habbit of wanting it all the time thou). The week before my PRMC 2 potential jedis and the cpl himself had theres stolen (presumed to be by a scouser) from there lockers. You don't know who is in the room and they may have 'slipped' through the net.

Good god what is the corps coming too. How on earth would someone who is haning out thier hoop have time to read a text message from thier parents whilst doing such a demanding task.

Because it all comes down to morale, whether they read them or not I never got an answer. Maybe if they are hanging out & get chance to read a text it'll give you encouragment, also you have stops on it. so would read em then.

There is yet another certainty in life apart from you will be born and you will die.....................................there is no chuffing way you have time to look at a text message whilst hauling your fully booted and spurred arse across 30 miles of Dartmoor at full steam. Anybody who has time or space to do such a thing hasn't got his head in the right gear. You forget the outside world, and concentrate on the task and your oppos. Stuff Aunt Gina wishing you well.........................what is this bloody world coming to?

Sounds F**king stupid if you ask me. For example in a war situation your about to storm enemy lines and you have relyed on text messages to get you through mentally challenging situations to encouraging you to do so. Will this mean in future marine allen for example wont be able to perform to his best because he hasnt recieved a text from mummy encouraging him to keep going and do his best.. I know its over the top but its tru in some respect.

Fellas, calm down. Like I say I don't know whether they even read the text messages. If they did fair enough, if they didn't fair enough.I don't think the effects of a morale boosting text would be enough to get you to finishy the yomp if you weren't up to it anyway, all it may have served as is a little encouragment, anyway they were a succesful troop with a lot of good marines in, Dan was in this troop, although not sure if his was the section allowed to take phones? But just saying, it happened & is water udner the bridge. The Corporal was told to toughen up by his superiors after the troop passed out anyway.

Or you could just live without your cell for a little while. I don't even have one, and rarely do I feel the need to use one!
