WORLD HOTSPOTS - your choices!!!

Post by westy_1981 »

hello all,

i've got my RM AIB fairly soon, and i know they're likely to ask me for a top ten (or twenty  ) of world hotspots. Obviously there are some fairly straightforward answers for the first 5 or so - IRAQ, PAKISATN, AFGHANISTAN, KOSOVO, SPAIN (and its implications for other European allies of Bush) but can anyone give me a few more and reasons why? Any random / unobvious ones would be ideal to impress the board!! haha

Cheers, westy

P.S thanks in advance for any replies

Most african states would be a good one ie the Congo, also Haiti's pretty hot at the mo. I don't know if North Korea's considered hot but it's a bit dodgy.

Hot spots? I always wanted to Vacation in the Congo. San Fransisco and Key West are hot with militant homosexuals, wouldn't want to be their prisioner. No really I think Kosovo would be the worst. Anytime people of the norther races start slugging it out, the shit gets deep fast. Other countries below certian latitudes have a frenzy and cool out, but European types go apeshit crazy when the blood spills. I wouldn't want to go to Kosovo.

Why Tibet? I know the chinese goverment took over the land and mudered millions of tibetians and still do, but i wouldn't say it's a hot spot unless your tibetian. I don't think westerners are allowed into tibet without special permission from the chinese goverment but still, it's a worthy point of discussion especially as it's technically illegal for china to occupy there land.

What latitudes are them whitey? I can't think of the Arabs as the placid type.

Westy, I'm also going for my AIB and I was told to the best way to prepare for this type of question was to get a "day to a page" diary, and everyday complete a page on the major news events that are occurring in the main regions of the world.

I use the BBC news website as my knowledge base and build any further knowledge using the Telegraph. The regions I use are the same as the BBC :

UK
Europe
Middle East
Africa
Americas
Asia-Pacific
South Asia

By the end of a week you'll easily have the "20 hot spots" you are looking for, build this up over a month or so and you should have something to talk about at AIB. By building up a diary in this way you will also have a revision aid for your final prep before the board.

This method will also help your geographical knowledge as I've been told that you'll need to point to the areas your talking about on a world map.

Hope this helps.

Bloody funny, though!

Actually, the summer of '81 was a bit hot as I remember, with riots in Brixton, Toxteth, and Bristol. Maybe Bradford's next...call in the U.N.!
