Illness took away my fitness :(

Post by synrg »

i had been running, doing pressups, doing situps and going the gym for about 6 months, and about a week ago i got this virus in my throat, and then it spread to other parts of my body, this is what it does.. i have swollen throat, headache, i cant swallow food - only water but it still hurts, ears are acheing, acheing joints and legs when im in bed and walking around! heart is racing, i wake up in middle of nite in a puddle of sweat and the heart is pumpin so fast after the same repetive dream that i have when im ill (which is hardly ever, this is the 1st time ive been ill in my life), in heat i shake and in cold im better.

i went the docters today and she given me some medicine / antibiotics, and ive been taking a spoonful of that (cummy goo ) every 4 hours while taking solphadine disolved in water.

i have no strength, i havent eaten for about 5 days ive been living off water, lockets and energy drinks :x and while i was walking up the docters this morning i got cramp in both my legs, calf and thigh, i tried a pressup this morning too and couldnt even do one, i have NO strength and im affraid that my fitness is totally gone because i have a quarter of a stone in a week

plus i have my driving test 2morro in the morning

last thing you should be doing is press ups, just sleep, sleep and sleep some more, its the only way your body will recover. concentrate on getting well again and then sort out your fitness.

I agree with maverick on this one mate, believe me I've done it myself, worked out as if nothing is wrong well ill, and you just make it 10x worse, u need to let your body recover, get plenty of sleep and vitamins down your neck, youll be fighting fit again in no time.

Get well soon mate,

Yeah, to add to everything that's been said. Drink plenty of fluids, eat a lot of fruit and drink as much fruit juice as you can. It will replenish certain vitamins and suger's.

Get well soon!

Just sounds like you've got no energy (not suprised after living off water), so, just to drum it into you :D, rest rest rest and wait untill you're better.

thats like me recently i had gastro-entroitus and i was as sick as a dog,i had no energy and i completely lost all my fitness i was so ill that i lost a stone and a half in weight but i think this was just due to having the shits for two months (sorry for the harrowing detail) all you can do is rest and let it past and when your better start training again slowly,i did this and now im fine and i was soon back into the swing of things. don't worry about losing your fitness you'll soon get it back as your body will use it's "muscle memory" to remind itself of it's previous fitness levels before being ill-atleast thats what the doctor told me- it's true to an extent.
