I was wondering if anyone has any recent info on PGAC as i understand it's just changed/ got harder? A breakdown of what it involves would be really useful, just to know what im up against!
Thanks.

Hi Tyke, i know a bit about what happens on the pgac so I hope you find it useful.
You do the bleep test and must get at least 9.10.
Be warned, the bleep test that you do at schools, colleges etc is not the one the forces use, the forces use a more difficult version of the bleep test.
If you do the civvie bleep test, take 2 levels off your score, and that will give you the score you will get on the RAF version e.g, if you score 12 on the civvie version, you would get around 10 on the RAF version
You will need to be able to do 15 press-ups, getting your chest down to a fists height from the ground. Aim to be able to do at least 20 , so that when your knakered you can still get the 15.
You will also need to be able to do 35 sit-ups in a minute.
There is also a 3-mile run assesment, where you have to do 3-miles in 24 minutes. This is 8-minute miling, so with some effort you can do this easily enough.
There is also the assault course, which is said to leave you knackered.
Make sure you can do a mile and a half in 10 minutes 30. I'm not sure if you have to do this for your pgac, but if you can do this then you will find things such as the assault course easier.
Best of luck
Adam

When l did PGAC many moons ago it was l believe 4 lengths any stroke then a minute or 2 treading water, fairly easy no time limit for the swim just had to complete it. To be warned it comes straight after the bleep test with no rest. I don't quite understand the comment about the bleep test as it seemed like any bleep test l have ever taken on a 20 metre course. I thought it was level 10 you had to get but memories fade. If you can't get that then there is something wrong. Its not a best effort once you reach the standard they turn the tape off.
