Hhhm, my accompanying letter says i will be sent full joining instructions once the date is confirmed and a liason officer will arrange a medical and pre-poc brief which are normally at the same time. Maybe im just being impatient...

Just spoken to the OCLC, basically all you have to do is send the acceptance letter back to the AIB and the medical date and date for the pre-POC brief will be sent to you soon after. I was told that my medical would probably be sometime in December but it just depends on when the doctor is able to see you. Don't worry if you haven't heard back yet, they'll get back to you asap.
How is your training going now Maverick?

Thanks for that.
As for training ive taken a week off as id been training solidly for something like 7-8 weeks and body felt like it needed a week off, plus i had a sh*tload of uni work to do so it fitted in nicely. Went on my first run back this morning and oh my god i must have picked the coldest morning to go for a run - it made what was meant to be an easy steady 5 miler into a test of mental toughness (was only wearing shorts and 2 t shirts - idiot)!
Have training planned for next 6 weeks, doing lots of fartlek work now and trying to increase my duration on my boot runs as much as possible, really focusing on getting some hard quality work in. Have a kind of 'test run' planned in january - am doing an 8 mile race set up by nike called GRIM, takes place on an army vehicle testing site so lots of fun. somewhat similar to the endurance course im hoping. after that its just a case of getting a few more tough quality runs in then rest up for POC. have been training since april so I couldnt have done much more in terms of preparation. How about you?

Just got back into trainng after a week and a half off with the flu. First run back was somewhat like yours, bloody freezing and pissing it down. Started back with a 7.5 miler and that seemed to get rid off the rest of the flu that was still hanging about. I've got a 10 week plan sorted from now till February and am working a lot more on hill reps, fartlek and sprinting to get me set for the bottom field and endurance course. Almost got the long distance stuff nailed so just gonna stick with my regular 7.5 milers twice a week and get the times down while focussing on the other stuff on the other days. As you say, been training for almost a year now so its just a case of cracking on at the POC.

Hi all, I've just got a few questions that I'm gussing you may be able to help with.
I've read that a couple of you have been training for upto a year, just curious as to what extent, I mean, have you kept yourselves on a strict regime, purely training for your POC for a whole year?
At the moment I run comfortably 6 miles under an hour. Just curious as to what you may recommend as to a good time scale for training prior to POC.
Secondly, this is mainly mainly to do with the AIB, how have you all prepared for the interview, aptitude tests, etc?? and what else do you do with yourselves that'll make you stand out??
and finally.... good luck fellas!!!!

Big Cheese, In response to your questions, I have been training with POC as my aim since October 2002. Since then my training has been pretty structured to passing the course and this contained mostly running plus the pressups etc however i also play rugby and have also kept up the training for this.
The RM give you a training programme which lasts about 8 weeks so, if you put max effort in you might be able to pass with this amount of preparation though I would recommend a bit more time. At the minute my time for a 6 miler is 40 mins flat, how much under an hour are you doing it in?
As for AIB, I have been reading up on a lot of the corps history, what the corps are up to just now, and am trying hard to get my current affairs up to date. Need to read more on Navy history but at the moment, I'm just focussing on getting through the POC.
