There's a 2 page spread in an A4 pamphlet that summarises key events and there's also a page regarding the VC's.

current/recent operations and stuff like that too. you should have been told all this though
stuck in a rut, unsure about the future, unsure about the military lifestyle, for a while anyway

I understand that the search button is incredibly well hidden and protected by ancient magic, curses, and the evil incarnation of Santa claus so the general rule is that you'll need to know current affairs ( www.bbc.co.uk is most useful), recent operations and deployments (Iraq, Afghanistan, Northern Ireland etc), and what's in the green information book. If you haven't got one then you'd better ask for one sharpish, and if you have then you really needs to know just about everything inside.

You need to know about where the cdo's(and supporting units) are.
Ships used
VC's
History or inportant battles
Weaponry(sa80 A2 5.56 etc)
The 30 week break down
The hierachy

Its all in the green booklet.

This one is 'CP7 June 2001', though June 2001 was a while ago so there may be a more recent version.
