Rating To Officer

Post by Chris_R »

I've heard that after serving as a rating its possible to become an officer. (Senior Upper Yardsmen? or something like this...)
Can anyone tell me anything about this process? Cheers...

Nice PO bloke who I met on my FAT and AIB. Has just done it and started BRNC this Sept great bloke, worked in Eng FAA, now off to train as officer aircrew! yes is possible.
Oh and another a marine at my AIB passed as officer.
Tends to be younger guys with a few years experience, and a lot up top!
After I failed my AIB the senior boading rate suggested this path.
"It is very vulgar to talk like a dentist when one isn't a dentist. It produces a false impression."
"There is no sin except stupidity."
"I could'nt help it. I can resist everything except temptation."
"Work is the curse of the drinking classes."

So, its possible to go from rating to officer without going through all the ranks? Serve as a rating for a few years then go before the AIB...

So can anyone tell me how long it might take to become a Petty Officer in the submarine service? (providing all the criteria are there of course)

Its just that I understand you have to be a PO before you can go for officer selection...
